Elizabeth was getting frustrated. A huge pillar had fallen on her as she was running out, and she couldn't lift it. So she tried a different method. She gave in, and a brilliant flash of yellow light stunned the survivors huddled in the parking lot. She appeared behind the group, and joined them without really being noticed. The Ten had mastered the art of remaining unobserved.
Brendan had fared similar. But before the problems began, he'd been having one of his hallucinations, green clouds clouding his vision, so he hadn't really noticed anything occurring until the illusion passed and he was pressed between the floor and what had been the ceiling. The survivors saw a flash of the same green shade, and one more was among them, unnoticed.
Zachary was getting mad again, as he often was. Pushing through the crowd of survivors, he searched for Joshua in vain. Muttering to himself something about having his head in the clouds, he listened to the humming of the Strings and followed the trails of his friend.
Arianne had already, in her subconscious, known where Joshua was. From her position by the window, she could see all she wanted, who cared if her teacher wanted her to pay attention? What she was supposed to be learning she had known long before the mortals surrounding her did, long before even the modern strains of the human race did. Windows connected her to the world, she could see anything, and when Joshua stepped into the picture it was even better. When the walls came crashing down around her, she didn't notice.
Brittany and Caylee, unlike the others, had escaped the building during the first wave, as they picked up the humming of the Strings and understood the severity of the situation. Standing in the midst of the large mob, they felt more trapped, for sure, than they would have still in the building. So while students and teachers alike broke down crying around them, they worked their way to the edge of the mob and vanished.
-in here will be what happens to Joshua, Matthias, Rebecca and Kalvin, possibly, or ill add more detail about the school itself or something. But this is nowhere near the final version of this-
One by one, the Ten arrived in their little Universe. When the last alteration of the reality-forms occurred, Matthias stood up and waved his hand, which was accompanied by a brilliant flash of yellow light and the other nine arranging themselves in a semicircle in front of him.
"Fellow Immortals! As can be seen, we are all here. Although today may be sad for the Humans back home, rest assured that those not hostile to us were fine. However, this phenomena was not accidental or natural, as the Humans will lead themselves to believe. Those of us gathered here right now are the only ones powerful enough with enough reason and proximity to call the earthquake upon the town, and focused directly on the high school. If other Immortals hear about this, we will never be allowed back on this planet and experiments with form-donning and mock-lives will be halted for a very long period of time. One of us caused this, and one of us will pay for this. Not all of the races. One."
The flash of yellow light seemed to have returned and caught in his eyes, for they glowed with the same shade and brilliance.
