I write songs to you in the muddled corners of my mind

Half-finished snippets of cluttered rhyme

I hum a shaky melody

Slightly off key

I know that you will listen to my song

You’ll smile at wrong notes

Words lost in translation

I’ll play bass with battered fingers

Watch as the grin lingers

I am your songstress

Though I ought never be your muse

Your defense

Loyal confidant

Fierce warrior in a soft poet

I am a dreamer’s dream

And a daydream believer

The smiling eyes

Soft abrupt red hair

Tons of moxie

I’m right to be your friend

Because of all the inconsistencies…

Ahh… in my slightly selfish indulgence, I digress…

Yes I sing

My lyrics, however broken, true

This melody to you

When the night draws near

And I return to the world of dreams

The dream of the mind

I’ll always write my songs

Dream my dreams

Sing to you
