A teen girl was walking home form work.
She got mugged and beat by some unknown jerk.
They say your life flashes before your eyes,
All the times you’ve laughed and had long cries.
So hers flashed, but stuck on a moment lost in time.
It was when she was being tucked in, her blanket was the colour lime.
She yawned, for she was eight.
And it was nine, which to her was pretty late.
Her father said, I love you.
She’d said I love you too.
He’d said I love you four.
Smiling, she’d said I love you infinity!
Hugging her, he said I love you more.
Red lights flashed and she heard a siren wail.
The paramedics were worried, they thought this time they’d fail
Finally she began to hear her pulse slow, while her vision swam.
And before her, she thought she saw a man.
It was her father, in his PJ’s kneeling on the ground.
For while she’d been dying he’d been sleeping sound.
The paramedics said, there’s nothing we can do.
And so she whispered, I love you.
It hung upon the air, he said I love you too.
She said I love you four.
Crying, he said I love you infinity.
Smiling, her last words were.
I love you more.
