Copyright 1999 by R.D. Ellison (yes, my friends, an older poem of mine, as you can probably tell by the elementary writing. More elementary than normal, I mean. And the rather forced, elementary rhyming.).
There are three bones you need in life
To help you battle; to win the strife
There's the wishbone; it's needed for good
Without it, you couldn't dream the dreams that you could
The backbone; it's stubborn and strong
It helps you attain your dreams all life long
It tells you to keep at it, never to let go
Says it could happen, you just never know
The funny bone is just as important as the two
It helps you laugh it off when life gets to you!
So don't make any bones about it!
Life you will get through
If you go to bed right now
You'll wake up in a morning anew
And remember to thank you're bones
They do hard work for you
They do more than keep you together
They're more than just you're muscles glue
Don't worry when things don't go your way
Don't cry, hurt, or throw a fit
Just trust the wish, back, and funny bones
And don't make any bones about it!
