Star Formula Stage 03

The whiteblue sportscar stopped in front of the CyberStar pit and Asanuma jumped out. Without talking to the technicians as useal he rushed past them and threw his helmet into the nearest chair. He headed towards the stairs, taking two steps at once, and continued his way towards the testing room. Satoshi frowned lightly as he saw Asanuma storming into his direction. He knew perfectly what was going on but he had decided to stay out of the whole story. Asanuma, on the other hand, made him responsible for the situation. His brown eyes burnt with fire as he stopped in front of his friend.

“How could you support her idea?”

“Nani? I didn’t support her in any way. It was her very own decision.”

What wasn’t fully true. In fact, Satoshi had convinced Mizuki to give her idea a try without really thinking about the consequences. Asanuma growled something unhearable, grabbed Sotoshi’s collar and crushed him against the wall. Anyone else would have been more than terrified by such an action but Satoshi. He knew of the hot temper of their star driver, after all he had been friends with him since their childhood years.

“Don’t make fun of me! You are the main engine behind Mizuki whenever she has ideas.”

“Think so?”

The pretty cool answer of his friend made Asanuma’s temper go up several degrees in response. He didn’t know whether to continue screaming or whether to just give Satoshi a punch in his stomach. Before he could put the last possibilty in action, someone banged on a table in the testing room.

“Daddy, that’s not fair!”

Several strains of Mizuki’s darkred hair had fallen out of the ponytail and hung loosy in her face. Her gaze was fixed on her father who didn’t seem to listen to his dear daughter. The technician beside him tried hard to keep his attention on the newest engine inventions the CyberStar team had made and to explain Hikama-sama the current results of all test runs. And it wasn’t that easy given the fact that Mizuki was trying to convince her father of her newest idea all the time.

“Are you even listening to me? You just walk around and say nothing. Daddy, please, would you ....”

“Do you think you can make it?”

“Nani?”

Blue eyes which had seemed to burn with fire now looked completely surprised. Hikama-sama placed the screwdriver aside and his look wandered from the engine over towards his daughter.

“Being a driver within the Star Formula isn’t something you can do just because you feel like it. You have to be devoted, willing to give your best every single day. To go to your absolute maximum,to face all the risks and the problems that occur.”

He cleaned his hands with a towl and walked over to Mizuki who was lost in her thoughts. When she had developed her idea she didn’t really think about all consequences. Now she understood what Satoshi meant when he had said that being a driver within the car race elite was not only a dangerous but also exhausting job. He had to know, after all he had been a driver some time ago as well. Hikama-sama placed his hand on her cheek and forced Mizuki to look into his eyes.

“Are you ready to face that? I know that you’re a good driver and maybe one of the best after some weeks of training but still ....”

His daughter shook her head and gazed up at him with her blue eyes which were shining with determination and self-confidence.

“I’m ready. It has been my dream since I’m a child and now I’m going to take the chance, the only chance in my whole life maybe. Daddy, please?”

Before Hikama-sama got the chance to answer the door was crashed open and Asanuma stormed in followed by Satoshi who had done his best to prevent him from entering the room but a more or less violent punch into the stomach had stopped him.

“You cannot do that, Hikama-sama! Mizuki’s your only daughter and she has never been in a grandprix herself so how should she handle being a member of the Star Forumla at once?!”

Asanuma’s voice could be heard throughout the whole building, without a doubt. When there was one thing he couldn’t except than that Mizuki would drive in the same league as him. Heaven only knew what could happen to her on the street. And the image of seeing her deadly injured in a totally wrecked car came up in his mind once again. He shook his head to get this image away and his voice calmed down a bit.

“You all know how dangerous this is.”

“I know pretty well, Asanuma, but I’m not as worried as you. Mizuki is a good driver and after some training units with you she’ll know how to prevent accidents and such.”

Upon hearing this, Asanuma looked over to the teamleader with disbelief. He opened his mouth to protest but Satoshi lay his hand on his shoulder and just blinked.

“I knew that it would come this way.”

“You ....”

“Daddy, you’re the best! I won’t disappoint you for sure!”

Mizuki clapped her hands and gave her father an overly happy and lovely kiss on the cheek before turning around to face Asanuma and flashing a victory sign which was returned by a huge sweatdrop that curled down his head.

“Won! So when do we start with the training?”

“This cannot be true.”
