Lilia began performing the Rite of Sun. It was also part of their delicate religion. Each morning, she would hunch down and pray to the Gods and ask their help to see her through each day, etcetera. Then she would light the oiled sticks and continue praying until they were burned up.
She finished this and began packing up her things up. Lilia was so well absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't see Crystal sneak up on her.
Suddenly she heard a loud noise from behind and felt a hand abruptly gripped her shoulder.
Lilia snatched the Sun Sabre out of its scabbard from her back and swung it around with a zing. Her would-be attacker howled and leapt back crying out, "It's me, Crystal!"
Lilia jerked the battle blade back as fast as she could. It was to late. The blade slashed across Crystal's right arm leaving a huge gash in it.
"I'm sorry and all, but you shouldn't have gone and snuck up on me like that." Lilia said while shaking her finger and bowing her head.
"Hello! I'm in pain here!" Crystal shrieked loudly.
After explaining very delicately that she was just joking, she looked at the slash.
"Ooh, that's a nasty little cut. Hold on. Here we go. It will sting for a while. We'll need to find a water source, like a pond to bath it in. I think there is one nearby. Do you think you can make it until then Crys?" Lilia said skillfully.
"Yah. I'll be just peachy." The cat creature gasped.
The double-edged sword had cut a two-inch thick and four inch long gash and left the injury flowing with blood intensely.
While walking, Crystal go tired of the tranquility and decided to start a conversation. So she said the first thing that came to her mind.
"Will you miss the people at the village?" she blurted out.
"No. I haven't given them a second thought. Why?" Lilia said examining the area while digging around in her pockets.
"After they took you in and cared for you? They found you and feed you and this is the thanks you give!" Crystal said angrily.
"Cared for me! Why they only took me in because they thought I was a sign from the Gods! Then when they found out I wasn't, they made me work harder than anyone else and paid me half the money! They took all the belongs that I wasn't wearing or couldn't hide!" Lilia seethed crossly.
She had pulled out her Ocarina. It was a golden pipe akin to the flute but its melody was sweeter and not as high-pitched.
The old town goldsmith had once said that it would take the best goldsmith in the entire world to make and enchant such a lovely thing. It was enchanted with magic, similar to that of Lilia's, which had not been fully discovered.
While walking she played her favorite tune. It was an odd one and the words to it, which Lilia knew, weren't even English. They were some unearthly, beautiful words, and she had known it since birth; no one had taught them to her.
She had christened the song "Aerial's Rhapsody" after her mother
Anyway, she just started playing it. As if nothing had happened, and it really had Crystal upset.
"Why do you have to play that stupid thing now! We're supposed to be finding water to wash my wound in!" Crystal said.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Crystal saw Lilia looking at her irritably. Then the poor cat realized to late she was using her magic to find a source of fresh water they could use.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were using your magic." Crystal said regretfully.
When she had finished playing Lilia commented, "Then you should of thought before you opened your big mouth. Anyway I found a source. It's a stream and it's quite close."
Crystal looked up from her moping and began inquiring where it was. She was so caught up in asking questions, she wasn't watching where she was going. So she landed in the cold water.
Lilia giggled and Crystal sobbed. She was complaining about being wet but couldn't get Lilia's attention because she was laughing so hard.
So Crystal reached out caught Lilia's foot and yanked. Then came a roaring scream let out by Lilia and loud hiss as she feel on Crystal
"Ow!" Crystal screamed at the top of her lungs.
"You deserve it for pulling me in! It's your own fault that you fell in the first place!" Lilia retorted.
"Did not!"
"Did to!"
"Not!"
"To!"
"Not!"
"To!"
"Not!"
"To!"
"Not!"
"To!"
"Not!'
"Whatever let's set up camp for the night. We're in no rush to go anywhere."
"Okey-dokey."
The two set up their camp and spent the rest of their day goofing off and chatting and telling jokes to each other; mainly it was Lilia making fun of Crystal.
When the light was no more, the two curled up in their spots as the fire turned into what was only a few glowing coals. The two faded into the darkness as the stars gleamed over head.
AN: Now this one's shorter, like I meant it to be. Only I hope it's not to short. ~_~ Sorry if I had to double space, but oh well.
