Prologue
To start this book, I suppose that I must explain the title. So, we will start with the first word. That is fairly simple; my name is Marty. And just to set the record straight: just because I have a boy's name does not mean that I am in any way obligated to act like an ape. Have I explained the first word well enough? If not, I think that you need to take a class in subtle hints like "my name is Marty!". The part that will take more explanation is "Bubble World". Okay, so we all know that kids are pretty much protected from the evil things of this world. For part of their childhood, anyway. But that innocence is gone at about the age of fourteen when we get to high school. Suddenly there are drugs and alcohol and swearing everywhere. So it is safe to say that kids aren't really protected anymore. Of course, not all high schoolers have to deal with that stuff. Take a very few, for example, who are homeschooled. In fact, look at me. The only thing I have to worry about is my grades and keeping up on fashion. It comes as a real shock when I have to deal with something outside of the box. Or, as I like to put it, my bubble world. I hope that the title of this book is making more sense now. Now, it is not a plastic bubble like in the movie "Bubble Boy". It is a figurative bubble. My world is happy and safe; an environment that encourages growing academically, spiritually, and creatively. Though, as you will see in this book, my world is not all sunshine and rainbows, there is not really anything difficult that I have to deal with (excepting those trigonometry questions. ugh!).
And so, ladies and gentlemen, I invite to you to enter Marty's Bubble World.
