Smile

It hurts you every time to see me in pain,

To see me squint and with blood to drip.

You asked me what did I have to gain,

By taking scars and to see my muscles rip.

Even now, you worry, for me and not you,

The debts you owe, you intend to repay.

I may have saved your life, that is true,

But I put yours before mine, even today.

My life may end soon, and I ask only this,

To see again on your face, that pretty smile.

I know that you were never mine nor his,

But trying to take your life, that is truly vile.

For my death, I gave you the chance to live,

Still I do not want to be the reason you cry.

I'm sorry there's nothing more I can give,

But still I'll protect you or at least I'll try.

You are now cursing but you don't mean it,

And until you are gone I shall not turn away.

My soul and body were torn up bit by bit,

But still I'll be returning soon another day.
