It's based on a true story of a dog (original name has been changed) who was abandoned at the Humane Society....
* Abandoned Bandit *
The day he came,
I could see his pain.
Thin for his size,
Bandit was his name.
The man showed no sign,
Of love for his dog,
Who was so ill,
He couldn't even jog.
"It's a stray I found,"
said the man, eyes cold.
Although a collar was visible,
Beneath the fur fold.
"I'll just go park my car,"
he said, "and come back,
Fill out his forms,
And help him unpack."
As if it was a trip,
Where Bandit could stay,
Relax in the sun,
And have fun all day.
The man did not return,
And Bandit got weak.
Bandit was abandoned,
His future was bleak.
Bandit was beyond recovery.
It wasn't hard to tell.
His appearance showed,
He could not get well.
He could hardly walk.
His eyes were so sad.
No one wanted him.
It made me so mad!
Such a beautiful dog,
Dying 'cause a man,
Couldn't love him,
Or show that he can.
Bandit was suffering,
We realized it too.
We weren't helping him.
We knew want to do.
We brought him into the lab,
Calming and cooing.
We didn't like the thought
Of what we were doing.
We injected the needle,
Sad, watching the pup,
As we lay him down to rest.
His life, we gave up.
