Poetess’ note: I hope you enjoy my ballad. (It really is one. Ballads aren’t just “poems or songs.” It’s got an anapestic rhythm and 4/3 foot count... supposedly. To the New World

The look in your once fair blue eyes
have misted over gray.
While tears of sorrow, downward fall
on this - oh woeful - day.

My heart it cries with pain unknown
to deaf, uncaring ears.
This scream, this howl, it echoes on
and will for years and years.

Your ship it sails to lands unknown,
on winds both stark and cold.
Your father beckons, you must begone -
my love, please dearly hold.

And though these wretched seas do part
our hearts, both torn asunder,
you shall forever be my Love,
but I be yours, I wonder.
