Kid

I am tired of being the kid;

Not allowed to argue or differ in opinion

If I do, I am bad: a rotten, disobedient child.

I am tired of being put in a category

Where I don't even belong

Put down, let down, uninformed

What does it matter to them?

They're adults, I'm a "kid".

What can I do about it?

Be strong!

Be your own person!

Form your own opinions!

Learn!

Grow!

We're proud of you no matter what happens.

Since when?

You are proud when what I do benefits you

We can grow, but under your hand

Learn, but don't learn about the world

Our own opinions? Only if they mirror your own.

My own person? Not likely..

Strong? I have to be. How else can I stay your perfect child?

Pushed down

Let down

Encouraged; discouraged

How are we supposed to know?

I feel so unprepared to leave; to face the world

I don't know anything about it. how can I survive?

I long to leave, to become my own person.

I don't feel like 'me'.

I am tired

I'm tired of being the kid

Tired of not being able to argue or differ in opinion

I am tired of being the stupid, mindless, conformed, uninformed, perfect kid.
