Farewell

I just want to sit here and use all my senses

quietly see, hear, touch and smell

absorb everything about you one last time

before I have to say farewell

How can I tell you that I don’t want to go

that every inch of me wants to stay

that my time with you has healed me

has performed a miracle on me in every way

How do I get close to you

when all you can do is drive me away

how do I tell you that I love you

words are in my mouth, but I really don’t know what to say

I’m as close to you as I will ever get

as close as you will let me be

even though tomorrow I’ll be a thousand miles away

when I close my eyes you’ll be all I’ll see
