Just Another Day

Julie E. Miller

2002

Epilogue: Sealing the Deal

Massachusetts in the summertime. Did I mention how much I love this place now? A year and a half have passed me by, but every summer seems to always find Daryn and I at the same house with his parents, Jacob, and Trinity’s every summer.

Before you even think it, no, I’m not friends with Trinity any longer. She doesn’t come on this trip anymore. I don’t talk to her really, when I see her. The last time I really talked to her was a year or so ago, when she finally had her baby. My mom and I went to see her after she’d gotten home. My mom continues to be friend’s with hers, but they know our friendship is essentially over. As far as I know, her and Blayne split ways, but keep getting together, then calling everything off.

Jacob has moved on, and that’s more than easy to see. He met a girl at my school and they hit it off very well. They’ve been together for a year now, but they’re going to separate colleges. Never fear, Jacob has the girl this time, as they’re engaged to be married as soon as possible. Not my plan, exactly. Though I can’t say a life of marriage is such a horrible thing. Sure, I’m young. That’s why I think I’ll save marriage for say, twenty-eight?

As for me…

I was in my room at the vacation house in Massachusetts. Daryn shared it with me and his brother and Kayla now stayed in this house too. They still aren’t going out, but I can see it’s just grown more. Whatever they’ve got is gonna work for them. Wait, I said this was about me, didn’t I? Well…

I sat on my bed, just flipping through a scrapbook that Daryn’s mother had made for me. I was lying on my stomach, flipping through it, and the love of my life sat beside me, looking at it as I did.

"You know," I started, "when I saw you in Erie that day so long ago, I honestly never thought I’d ever see you again."

He smiled. "Well miracles happen."

I bit my lip, and returned to looking at the book. They’re were pictures from dances I’d drug Daryn to, trips we’d been on, and just times that we’d spent together. "I love you," I said, shutting the book, setting it on the floor, then turned to look at him. I sat up and he took one of my hands.

"I love you too," he told me gently, rubbing his thumb over the top of my hand.

"How long do you see this lasting?" I asked. I was curious.

Daryn looked a bit surprised. "Do you think we’re going to break up? Are you going to break up with me? I mean…we’re going to the same college…"

"Shhh…" I told him, placing a finger over his lips. "I was just being curious."

"Forever," he said, looking at the blanket.

"Are you lying?" I asked. Why’d he look away from me?

"No. I just can’t be all mushy. I feel girly doing it." I laughed. Daryn pulled me to him. "I love you too much," he told me, looking me straight in the eyes this time. "If I ever lost you, I don’t know what I’d do. So promise me something…"

"What?"

"You’ll always stick by my side."

"I have so far, haven’t I?"

"Yeah," he said. He kissed me then, and I kissed him back. But I pulled away. "What now?"

"As long as I can call you Daryn Rueben." He rolled his eyes.

"You’re crazy."

"And that’s what you love the most about me."

"Damn right," he whispered. "Now shut up and let me kiss you."

"Aye sir," I said, laughing, but he silenced me with his lips.

Heaven, hell…we’d been to both and back. But we were together…which is exactly where I wanted to be. His kisses grew stronger and I thought that it wouldn’t be better ever again…well it would…I mean, we could only go up from here, right?

I squeezed my eyes shut as his kisses grew more powerful.

And this time I didn’t say no.

This entire story was written by me. It wasn’t written by you. So if you even plan on stealing the tiniest bit of it, I will chase after you and beat you senseless with my huge shoes. Heh. Thank you and have a very nice day!

This story is dedicated to Kendra, since it was also written for her. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me and for allowing me to write you this story! It has been fun!

Author’s Note: First of all…MERRY CHRISTMAS…now…Hey kids…that’s it. The end. *Wipes away a tear* It’s been fun! And I love you all! Over 500 reviews! You all helped me reach my key goal for this story and I love you all for it! When I first began posting at the site, I had decided that my goal was to get 500 reviews on a story…Well it took me a few years…but I did it! So thank you all so much for helping it to come true! It means more to me than you’ll ever know! I also want to thank you for taking the time to read it all. It’s been awhile to get this up, and I’m sorry, but I just…damn. I have to thank you all for EVERYTHING. You guys gave me the fuel I needed to write it. Heh.

As for my next story…it has been started. It’s going SLOW, but it’s going. And I hope to have it up in January…at the latest in February. So look for it. As of now, I’ve titled it How Did This Happen?, and just for being such rad reviewers and readers, here’s my original story line for the story…consider it a preview. Heh.

Laura, fresh out of high school is working on her college degree. She’s entering with enough credits to actually be a sophomore in college. She’s offered the most amazing summer job this year: co-publicist for an up and coming band. Thrilled about it, she gladly accepts…that’s when she meets Cole. She instantly writes him off as being cocky. But if Cole is her brother’s best friend and she knew him her entire life, growing up, why doesn’t she recognize him? Heh. Stupid, I know. Don’t say it.

There you go kids. That all comes rite from my notes. So thank you all so much! Heh. I can’t say that enough!

I’m just curious. How many of you hated Trinity? Did I make her too evil? Also, who was your favorite character and what was your favorite scene of the story? Just curious.

If you would like to know when the new story is posted, please E-MAIL me at hurleygirley_.

One final thought: I don’t own any of the bands, products, or the like named in this story. They belong to the people who own them. I own all characters though.

Thanks, hugs, and free cookies to:

Hidden In The Shadows: I’m jealous! Erm…hmmm…I don’t like Trinity either. Heh…and look! She did talk to his mom again…but on a more serious topic.

Broken promise ring: Heh. I meant I turned you onto the story, not the Ataris. I’ve been listening to them for about a year now…one of my best guy friends used to be obsessed with them and wore a shirt of theirs all the time. You got to see them live? I’m jealous. Heh…but I may see Something Corporate and The Juliana Theory on Feb. 9th. So I’m praying I get to go! Thanks for your reviews!

Care the confused: Previews are dirty little pleasures, eh? Heh. I’m so stupid.

Bottledinsideme: Did I call Sum 41 preppy? Hmmm…don’t remember that one. I’m lost. Heh. You’re confusing the blonde! I’m gonna go into a corner and cry. Hehe…I’m listening to GC now. I’m obsessed with that band. Sum’s not bad. I like them. Not my fave, but they’re cool. Heh.

Iris: Not many people liked Trinity. I should have done a ‘How Many People Hate Trinity Poll?’ Hmm…maybe I’ll do that now. Done. Heh. You had a test on Friday the 13th? You poor girl. I actually got out of school that day for Ophelia Mentor Day. Yay! But ugh. So how’d the test go? I would love to write. That’s like my dream. But I don’t know if it’ll happen.

V: Merry Christmas to you too! Hehe! THANKS!

Rashei: I’m sorry it’s over. Heh…but my new one will so totally be up soon! So LOOK OUT FOR IT! Hehe…erm…I ramble so fucking bad. You poor thing. You can’t get their CD cuz of the parental advisory? Mine don’t care. They don’t like it, but they’ll let me get it. That’s actually surprising for my parents.

Kayli: She did totally deserve it. Look for the next one. I don’t know how good it’ll be. I’ve only got like 2 chapters done. We’ll see.

Little Brat: He did find a girl…heh. I’m sorry I couldn’t introduce her more, but the story needed to be finished.

Chibi Tenshi: Guys do cheat often, but I don’t know. I agree with you. Girls DO do it more than most people realize. Us girls are sneaky.

WWD Director: Gravy…ew…Adam Sandler was on Cosby? Hehe He’s fucking funny. Chris Patton? Huh?

Luxii: We all hate Trinity. Heh. I would have killed her too, trust me.

Sara: Hello again friend from across the ocean. Hehe…I’m happy you like this story!!!!!!

Baby Dust Bunny: Best disco ever? I love disco. We’ll call it a ‘dirty pleasure’. Haha. It’s just so upbeat and yeah…funky shit, I tell you. They read my stories? Haha. Losers. Kidding! I don’t know. I can’t believe so many people like this stuff. Thanks tho. You always crack me up.

Miss Razberry: I scared ya, eh? Yelling scenes are fun to write! I really get into it…scary.

Hypnotic-babe: They don’t always cause miscarriages. Mainly birth problems. Which I should have thought about before I wrote in the pregnancy thing. But I winged it. Heh…but thanks for pointing that out to me…that was something I’d forgotten about. Thanks for the reviews!

Crazylilangel: Daryn’s cool. I agree. I thing teenage pregnancy is awful. But that’s my stance on it.
