It was this Darkness.

It was eternal, never ending and even so she knew she floated within
the center of it. The very core of its essence, the place where it
became darkness. It was here she stretched her arms and lay, so used
to this that it was almost natural. She had never seen light, nor did
she know the concept of it.

But knowing this, how could she describe this as Dark?

So to her it was her haven, her safe place. It existed, it was, and
there was no more to it. She was neither alive nor dead, and this placed
existed, and yet did not.

It was here that she could freely spread her wings.

She who she was partially. She belonged to this Darkness, its slave and
its lover. She was what completed it, made it happy. She was what kept
it from feeding off of innocent souls, only to do the very same thing herself.
She was the Darkness’ assassin, its perfect pet.

And she was content with that.

She wanted no more than to make the darkness happy. It provided a haven for
her, so she provided the souls it needed to survive.

It was her haven, until some creature from another place brought the light.

Oh god, another Friday.

She absolutely hated Fridays. First off, Fridays were the best day of the
business week because they marked the beginning of weekends. Weekends
could be times to relax, to go to pool parties with her best friends, or
catch a late movie with that hot chess-groupie that sat beside her in math
class, even if she wasn’t all that interested in him.

But Friday was a devious little bastard. Instead of making the school day go
faster than it had the rest of the week, Friday made time literally stop dead
and sadistically clicked off the minutes at a grueling pace any turtle, or hare,
or whatever could outrun.

Satanic, Sadistic, Vicious Friday.

Laura settled herself behind a lab counter on one of the stools, her back
screaming from its abuse in gym earlier. Why did science have to be one of
those hands on classes? She would have killed for a nice, comfy chair with a
back and a text book. One hundred pages of reading? No problem, she could finish
that by the end of class. An experiment? God damn the universe.

The beginning of class exercise was written up on the board in her science teacher’s
loopy script- what color will fire turn when it burns CuCl? Mentally slapping herself
on the head for such a simple question (1) Laura wrote up her required paragraph in
under five minutes and turned it in. Now it was time for the real work.

Why, oh why couldn’t they do book work? ‘Eighth grade is hell, eighth grade is hell…’
The silent chanting did little to lighten her mood as her teacher instructed them to
settle a stick with NaHCO2 over an open flame.

‘How did I get stuck with the pyromaniacs again?’ Wearily she watched as her semi-friend
Aiden (2) held the burning stick with an evil gleam in her eyes. ‘Oh dear god, I’m
going to die. Eighth grade is hell, eighth grade is hell…’
47 minutes, and 52 cruel seconds later...

Laura gathered her books as quickly as she could before Aiden managed to blow up the school,
rushing out of the room over the shrieks from the teacher for her to restrain the insane
fourteen-year old. And ended up ungracefully falling on her arse after crashing into a warm body.

“Oh, I’m so sorry! I wasn’t watching where I was going.” Laura felt her cheeks heat up in
embarrassment as she prayed to every god she knew of that she only managed to crash into one
of her friends, and not that adorable guy from math class. She was horrified to find it was
neither, but a gorgeous angel that she had managed to knock over.

It turned out this angel was the girl who had bumped into her. A tall and mysteriously beautiful
girl of obvious Chinese descent, her onyx eyes set on Laura's hazel and her black hair falling
before her face. This new girl screamed a tomboy in a pair of black slacks and a white formal
shirt, but her figure beneath the clothing was definitely female. (3)

“Don’t sweat it," This Angel said, her voice sweet and firm, "I bumped into you. I should be the
one apologizing."

Laura found herself blushing, and she turned her eyes down, gathering her books in her arms. "Uh,
well, I got to go." She muttered, standing up and fleeing from the scene towards her seventh hour
technology class.

Looking back she saw the angel girl stand there for a moment, before she entered the science
classroom Laura had just left, and then Laura had to turn and run as the late bell rung.

"God, I'm glad the day is over." Laura said as she sank into her usual bus seat, relieving the
strain of her backpack from her shoulders as her best friend, Ting Yang [2], took the seat beside
Laura.

"You still up for Matt's party tonight? Mark is going to be there." Ting teased, watching the
blush spread up Laura's cheeks at the mention of the math-guy, and laughing evilly as Laura turned
as red as an apple.

“I do not like him anymore!" Laura said with a frown, her blush slowly fading, as she said in a
much quieter tone, "And anyways, I found someone new..."

Ting grinned at this, and spent the rest of the bus trip home pestering Laura to find out who this
mystery guy is. Laura kept her lips sealed though, not knowing how Ting would react if she found
out that this he was in fact a she. Laura had sealed away the fact that she liked both guys and
girls from everyone and anyone, afraid of what it could bring.

'They wouldn't accept you if you told them," the Darker thoughts in her head told her, as truthful
as they always were. She knew that, thus she said nothing to Ting on the way back, and lapsed into
her own thoughts.

God, Fridays are sadistic. (4)

A/n- *Sigh* I decided to try another shot at this original fiction. Not enough people like Yuri!!
Lol…People, homophobia is so gay!

1- Lol, for those of you who don't know, don't feel bad. CuCl turns a flame a beautiful green-blue-
try it out sometime, but with the help of your friendly science teacher!
2- Me! Lol, I am a pyro, so I couldn't help it...
3- This is the actual description of one of my best friends...she'll kill me if she finds out I'm
using her as a character.
4- Sadistic is my fave word, if you haven't guessed lol.
