In Shadows

In scarlet shadows I found a body.

I've never been surprised.

I thought it was another joke,

Until I smelled the blood.

In black shadows I changed form.

I've always loved my grinding bones.

I thought no one was near,

Until I heard their breath.

In graying shadows I thought I'd hide.

I've never been out on a shifting night.

I always thought to check my charts,

Until tonight; I was mistaken.

In broad daylight I'll enlighten you to this-

I've been bitten by the demons.

I never knew I would change,

Until I tasted blood.
