Not So Greedy

September 21, 2001

When I left the hospital today I came home and Mrs. Loben said that they had called (I left my number for them to call if anything changed on the guy's condition) she told me that it was important that I get to the hospital immediately so I jumped in my car and hurried back over.

'He's getting up!' the nurse at the front desk told me excitedly.

'Who's getting up?' I asked her.

'The man you've been visiting, he's waking up from his coma!' and she lead me to the room.

Doctors were everywhere and one told me to leave but the front desk clerk said I could stay. I was so confused for the first thirty minutes that I was in the room and I even had to leave a few times so more doctors could enter and leave but after those few moments of puzzlement I was fine and decided to wait in the hall until they said it was okay to come in.

'He's fully awake now and the bandages are off his eyes, he may not be able to see you because we don't know his complete visual acceptance yet but we will soon so just hang in there and talk to him, he needs someone friendly at the moment,' one of the doctors informed me.

'Thank you," I answered and went into the room.

As soon as I crossed the threshold I knew for certain that it was definitely T.J. and I went in and gave him a big hug. 'Is that you?'

'Who?'

'My girlfriend, Autumn, that's how she hugs me.'

'Well, do you think it's you girlfriend, Autumn, or just someone who gives hugs like her?' I smiled.

'No one else has I voice like that so it has to be you!' he smiled too.

'Can you see me? Or is everything dark?'

'It's dark for the time being, the professionals say that I got hit with debris in the back of my head and it did something to my eyes so I can see for a little while then it's like the lights go out and I can't see anymore.'

'I can't believe you made it! Everything was horrible without you!'

'What do you mean? You have you're parents to help you out through this, and what about Adalya, you had her new car to go driving in when things got bad, right?'

I was silent.

'Autumn, right? What's wrong?' T.J. asked as he felt something wet hit his arm.

I wouldn't answer.

'Autumn, please tell me, I need to know. They say I've been out for about ten days, a lot of things can happen in ten days and I need to know why you're crying.'

'My parents are dead, T.J. and so is Adalya, I didn't have anyone for what seem liked years!' I began to cry even harder.

So, diary, that's basically how my conversation ended with T.J. and now I can come see him every day in the hospital until he's let out!

Finally my life is looking up! Maybe tomorrow, I'll find out that my parents really didn't die either! I highly doubt that one, to where it's impossible but that's okay, I think I'm getting used to the fact that my parents aren't coming back even if it still upsets me all the time!
