An Alien's Loneliness

Lonely.

Nobody to talk to.

No friends at all.

It might be because

I'm just two feet tall.

I miss all the friends I had

Far back at home.

All that I want

Is a place of my own.

I have to meet my spaceship

By eight o' clock or nine

But I have the feeling

I'll run out of time.

I ran out the door

And greeted my ship.

They'd want to rest

They'd had a long trip.

Just one of my people came out

To greet me, too.

"We've missed you much," he said

I replied, "And I missed you."

The ship started trembling

And to lift into space.

So that's how Zok and I are caught

In this hell of a place.

I will hate being trapped on earth

Until all time ends

But at least I'm marooned here

With one of my friends.
