Too Much To Ask?

Where were you when I needed you?

The hurt inside, I wanted it out

To be heard and to be shared

A small comfort brought by a hug

A sympathetic ear to listen as I weep

Choked with tears I need to talk

Troubles, doubts and fears, bottled up deep inside

I need them out but no one's here to listen

You know of this pain, don't pretend you don't

The quiet ones, the ones who listen to all of the others

Need a friend too, to listen to them

From time to time

To give support, to be a friend

That is all I need right now

Is that too much to ask?
