Okay, I've redone it so it sounds more like a song. I'll be the first to admit that the first one wasn't very song-like but tell me what you think of this version. Personally I believe it still needs some tweaking.

I Close My Eyes (Almost)

I do not dream
for my dreams lie
I do not wish
for my wishes die

I close my eyes
and I can almost see your face
I close my eyes
and reach out to touch your cheek
But then it fades
like morning frost
under the cruel sun

I do not hope
all hope is dead
My guiding star
into darkness has fled

I close my eyes
and I can almost see your face
I close my eyes
and reach out to touch your cheek
But then it fades
like morning frost
under the cruel sun

It fades
into darkness
From warm summer
comes bitter winter

I close my eyes
and I can almost see your face
I close my eyes
and reach out to touch your cheek
But then it fades
like morning frost
under the cruel sun

You have passed into the eternal night
You are gone forever now
Your spirit has taken flight
but still. . .

I close my eyes
and I can almost see your face
I close my eyes
and reach out to touch your cheek
But then it fades
like morning frost
under the cruel sun

All hope flies
as my heart breaks within me
So I just close my eyes
and I can almost see you standing there
and believe you are still here with me

Almost
