SHUNTED

I looked to the sun, but it hid behind clouds.
I whistled to the wind, but it passed me by.
I pleaded with the stars, but they didn't listen.
I cried for the moon, but it didn't see.
I shouted to the world, but it couldn't hear me.
I reached to the sky, but it pelted me with rain.
I ran to the mountains, but they turned away.
I fell to the earth, and it didn't help me up.
I spoke with the birds but they gave me no consolation.
I caressed the trees, but they lashed at my face.
I planted a seed, but it rotted in the earth.
I swam in the ocean, but it washed me away.
I listened to my heart, and it betrayed me.
I fought with my mind, and it abandoned me.
I looked into my soul, and only found...an empty shell.
