The moon rose up above the clouds,
The stars shone down upon the sea,
The wind blew freely through the trees,
And my love, my heart, had come to me.
But as soon as dawn had come to break,
You had to part from our embrace,
You had to go, away from me,
And nevermore to see my face.
I seek you now, much more than ever.
But I know soon we are to meet.
So Heaven come; come now, come hither,
And I will lie at my lover's feet.
Based on the Greek myth of Hero and Leander.
