THE WAR - PART ONE

They went to the fields,
Not to reap or to sow.
They carried their swords,
For the death of their foes.

Their armour gleamed in the sun,
Their banners waved in the wind.
They gave a yell, and broke into a run,
They thought the Lord would save them;
For they hadn't sinned.

They went for the King;
To them, he was dear.
For sheltered under his wing,
They could have no fear.

Children and wives,
They left behind.
They sacrificed their lives
For the peace of mankind.

Into the shadows they strode,
(All courageous and bold,)
Into that which became their final abode;
With the freedom of their land,
To withhold.

They perceived the fate
That awaited them all.
And yet, they still walked
Towards the gate.
They would not let the empire fall.
