Silent by cascades the water,

in the night-moon glow bright.

In the mist dwells the daughter,

of the King of Night.

Mist her shadow, wind her voice,

the forest rain her tears.

For lost night princess no rejoice,

eternal are her years.

Ghost of trees, spirit of stars,

heavenly face of woe.

Envious of the bliss that is ours,

to heaven she cannot go.

Lost forever in the misery of night,

to disappear in the light of the morn.

Alone in her sufferings, unaided in plight,

to the shadows of night she is sworn.

No valiant knight will whisk her away,

no brave soldier will fight through the chains.

Blue eyes forbidden to the light of day,

saved,

for the night forbidden with rains.

Traverse alone through the misty maze,

friendless in quest for a home.

Pay no heed to tear streaked gaze,

the dead are to suffer alone.

Princess of night cries for the sun,

for the comrades and lovers of yore.

‘When will all this agony be done?’

‘When will I suffer no more?’

No answer is given,

More tears to fill the stream.

Another goodbye bidden,

an endless wicked dream.
