Chapter Eleven

All ended there. Samantha Simmons saw no more, for her world became black, her pain was whipped away, her body relaxed, and her face was wiped of any emotion. The wound in her chest was bleeding freely when the police officer found her and the dead heap of a cook was no surprise. At first they thought Sam to be dead, but she was not. They rushed her to the hospital and she immediately was on the road to recovery. All waited as patiently as they could, waiting, waiting for her to come out of her comma.

The sun was streaming into the hospital room and for the first time in a month, Sam felt its warmth on her skin. She could hear voices about her, talking in whispers. It sounded like she was in a great room and every noise seemed to bounce around, hurting her eardrums. She tried to raise herself up but her muscles would not listen. It was hard to breath, but not impossible. The voices became clearer, and clearer, and even more clear, until she could hear them without straining.

Her eyes fluttered open and she looked about the white hospital room. Her mother and father were both sitting by her side; her grandparents from both sides were fussing over everything or sitting down because of fatigue, every family member she could think of was there. All except Corry, for Corry had passed away; his life had only been a flicker and hardly anyone would know of him in times to come. It was of no importance to those who did not know them.

And Clair, Clair was not there. She was not waiting with open arms and with gobs of get-well gifts. She was not puffy eyed; she was not anything. She was no more, no more. Her memory would live on with those who knew her, but even they would soon forget the sound of her laugh or that freckle by her nose.

"Look!" some one cried. Everyone in the room turned towards Sam. A gasp went all around and she was soon smothered in hugs and a thousand kisses. There was her Aunt Marge and Uncle George, cousin Jezebel and her boy friend Ernie. Everyone imaginable seemed to be in that room; all that were alive that is.

Though Sam was very happy to be back, she could not help but feel lost and alone. She could not help the lump rising in her throat more than she could the sun from setting. Her brother; her best friend; both were gone and would see no more. She would see no more of them either. And for one fleeting moment, she felt she could not go on, did not WANT to go on living without them.

But that feeling came and went. Her family, she could not leave the rest of her family. She could not abandon them. God surely had a purpose for her life; He had spared her from death.

A/N: Hey guys, thanks for reading my story. I loved all of your reviews. I'm pretty sure this is the end. I might write a sequel some day but, I kind of doubt it. LOVE YA!

And don't forget. This isn't the end of my stories. There are still plenty of other ones I have written. Read and enjoy!
