This is a poem I wrote about the Australian Rules Football team the Collingwood Magpies after they lost this year's Grand Final to Brisbane -- --

It is said on that day in September The winner's the one you remember But not for the 'Pies' Salty tears in their eyes And for fans and all the club's members

Weeks before met words from the crier Of predictions of near events dire They said we would fall We answered the call Within us there burned champion fire

The game was close from the start With each player playing their part The rain did pour down Our hopes soon to drown But we kept on with all of our heart

The game had ended all too quick You had beaten us and it made us sick The siren did sound We fell to the ground Though we fought until the last tick

I sit here with the ground bare Regret here pesters in the air The dirt in my hand Next year is our stand We're here whenever you dare
