Tup BupTopic: Rionda Rionda is a continent. The people in it are disconnected with the rest of the world as the seas are haunted by treacherous sea creatures which prevents them from exploring any further than where the sea shelf drops away.Within the continent are five main areas. The north, covered in snow, inhabited by the cold female witches who keep out of the main affairs. They work on their magic and are obsessed with things called Gateways. Large amounts of Natural Force flows out of these Gateways which the witches have managed to harness and turn into active magic. They fortify themselves with this magic but do not attack any other races. Male witches are unheard of and it is rumoured that the females travel to find wandering males, called drifters, with which to reproduce. They abandon any sons who are said not to be able to master magic, and keep their daughters. The far western regions of Rionda are thick with forests and low mountains. This is begrudingly populated by Elves who were exiled there by the humans. They steal art when they can and spend their time around campfires swapping stories about the oldtime and planning how to improve their situation. The eastern regions of Rionda, thus, is populated by humans. They hold the great city of Rionda, named Gambia. Or New Grandia by the self-proclaimed human king: Rufus Red. He spends his time worrying about the Elven retaliation and sending out spies with gifts of artwork to try and guess at their movements. The two regions are separated by a vast expanse of desert called the central plains. This is mostly uninhabitable and is populated only by passing travellers who never settle for very long as shade and resources are sparse. The southern part of Rionda is covered in a huge mountain range. This segregates a small village named 'Seal Gate' from the rest of the continent who live out their lives peacefully away from the threat of impending wars. Occassionally airships will land here demanding male recruits to join the human army that is gathering force in the east. There are other nameless villages around the edges of Rionda which my stories are unconcerned with. What do you think? Is it too limited to have only one continent? I don't like the idea of sea travel but I think that my sea creatures may be something of a 'cop out'! |
