Topic: The Slip Stream
This is my most current project in progress and the one I am most passionate about to date.

Summary:

The year is 2031 A.D. and time travel is a reality, but is highly restricted. When the technology first came out it was stolen by terrorists and sold on the black market to any low life scum on the streets to use. Before long deranged, psychopathic lunatics of all walks of life were going backwards and fowards in time. Many were actually becoming famous criminals of the past, such as Ted Bundy, Jefferey Dahmer and even Adolf Hitler. The governemnt of 2031 knew it had to do something and formed S.S.A.C.R.O.N. or the Slip Stream Alliance and Covert Reconnaissance Operational Network. This elite agency took it upon themselves to deal with the time dilema, seek out, capture and recover the stolen technology as they chased various criminals through every era of history. Low on man power, a radical program was introduced, the Mortality De-Con Program. The Agency would seek out decorated military soldiers of various eras in American History who met untimely deaths on the battle field and bring them to the future as inductees to the Agency. If they refused they were returned to that instant in time where they were taken from to meet out their original destinies...death. The story centers on one Gabriel Alvarado, highly decorated Battlion Commander of S.S.A.C.R.O.N. who has to deal with chasing his former mentor, turned vicious vigalante, through the bowels of time to try to stop his rampage. Also featured is Natasha Raige, a female Major for the U.S. Army who was supposed to die in the Gulf War, but was saved by the Agency, an Agent Tayden Darells to be exact.Wanna know more...read the story!...LOL.

So discuss, wanna know what you think.

The Mortality De-Con Program is just to fill up the ranks, because of low man power...not to eliminate any kind of threat. I didn't get this of anything. My inspiration was the movie "The One" and Quantum Leap...so I thought I'd kind of merge the two.

Uh... lol indeed, M.H. Moosetail!

Won't win any prizes for originality as you admit Apollyion, but I quite like the first few chapters- makes you want to read on, which I intend to do- expect an entry on your review page in the fullness of time, and maybe some additional discourse here :p

Well thanks, as for the originality point, I thought some elements were original. For example my "Historical Shift Lock" don't think anyone's come up wit that one before.

Good idea, but dammit man why the short chapters. Very orginal i think, it used orginal tech and characters and didnt plarise(sorry crappy speller) or steal anyones ideas. Keep going, and try to make the chapters a little longer, more bang for your buck.

A thousand words a chapter is not a 'chapter'. It's barely an installment. Most chapters in a book are the equivelent of short stories, ranging from 3000-7500 words on average and going up to 17000 for some of the longer winded authors. PLEASE, I beg of you guys, write more, or submit more in length. I chew through a 1000 words in 3 minutes, which is not enough for me to get a feel for your stories. Give me something to sink my teeth into.

You gotta be kiddin me, most books I have read, which were full novels might I add, had less than 1,000 words...so i don't know what your talking about. A thousand words is adequete length.

He's just really sick of most of these writers on this site that only post a 1000 words and less. Gets really annoying i'd admit. He's a fast reader and he sees a trend going on with these writers on this site. Sometimes a 1000 word chapter is plenty when you have context of the story behind it, but not when its suppose explain very crucial and key parts in a story. I would use a 1000 words just to get a single idea across, not a dozen of scattered unorganized ideas. That's hard to grasp.

Right, I just use the thousand as reference, try to go for at least that many. Most of my chapters do contain more, and the longer the plotline of that particular chapter, the longer it will be.

In actuality my chapters are anything from 5000-15000 words in length xDD My shorter ones in the beginning range from 2000-3000, but on this site I tend to split my original chapters into 2 or 3 chapters, simply because from what I've /gathered/ people preferred shorter 2000-3000 length chapters than the longer ones. I know I do--unless it's a rather good story I'm interested in, then the longer the better.
