Topic: Metal, anyone?
I consider myself a headbanger. :).

My genres are operatic/symphonic/progressive metal, like Kamelot, Lacuna Coil, Epica, Nightwish, Therion, Tiamat, Within Temptation, etc.

Anyone else? Can be any type of metal. I just want to know what else is out there.

Ah! Finally someone who knows about Kamelot. I like Kamelot, Nightwish, Epica, Lacuna Coil, After Forever, and also the heavier stuff like DevilDriver and Cradle of Filth. I have The Silent Force from Within Temptation on my computer, but I can't seem to get into it. I do like "Stand My Ground" though. I might like them more if I tried their other albums.

Oh, and check out Delain, another band. Their guest appearances is like this:

Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation)

Marko Hietala (Nightwish)

Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes/ex-Theatre of Tragedy)

Ad Sluijter (Epica)

Jan Yrlund (ex-Lacrimosa)

George Oosthoek (ex-Orphanage)

Guus Eikens (ex-Orphanage)

Ariƫn van Weesenbeek (God Dethroned)

Yeah, I think you might be interested.

Sounds great. I'll definitely check out Mother Earth soon, and about Delain, is there any particular album you think I should start with?

There's only one: 'Lucidity'. :).

Alright, so I downloaded all of Lucidity, and I have to say thank you! I listened through all their songs at least once, and I love them all! My favorites right now, I'd have to say, are "Days for Ghosts" and "The Gathering." :)

OMFG WHERE DID YOU GET ALL OF LUCIDITY?

I've been searching for that CD for ages; I even emailed the band (and got a personalized email from Martjin himself) and I can't find it! Arrghhh..

Yes, those two are very good. I also like Sleepwalker's Dream. Very nice.

That's a good song too. I found all of the songs from Limewire if you want to look there. :) Or, if you can't find the songs and have an AIM screenname, I can transfer the songs to you.

OneLastEndeavor
Ooohhhh yes. I hate LimeWire...I don't want to get even more viruses and junk on my computer. I really only want "Pristine" and "No Compliance", because I want to buy the actual CD. Would you mind? =D.

You mean transfer those songs to you? Of course I don't mind! :) What's your screenname? Or better yet, mine's in my profile, so if you'd just like to IM me whenever you're online, I'll send them to you then. I actually haven't gotten any viruses from Limewire yet...or I don't think I have...hmmm.

I can't find the sn on your profile! :(. Anyway, would it be at all possible for you to upload those two songs on megaupload, or xanga (they host audio files now!) or something?
#16 Dec 06th 2006, 8:54pm
Morte d'Amour
My sn is: ImmortalNite666.

I don't have a xanga nor have I heard of megaupload. :( I'll check out the latter on my free time, but it'll be quicker if you IM me now that you have the sn.

Never mind. I got the songs through this one Russian site that has albums to download for free. It's great. :).

I don't know how you feel about violating the copyright, but they have tons of metal bands on there. I can give you the URL if you want.

Well, you can give me the site, and I'll check it out to see what it's like. That would be nice.

Hey...does anyone know of or like The Sins of Thy Beloved?

Cradle of Filth aren't that good, their music is okay but their singing you can barely understand so I don't bother with listening to them that much. I do not really like Nightwish either, they remind me too much of opera for some reason. Cradle of Filth kind of reminds me of Children of Bodom but COB are exceedingly better.

Bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Mnemic, Meshuggah, Dimmu Borgir, Exodus, Unearth and Mastodon are more in my range of liking. Also I have recently gotten into the band Maggot **. That is about all I can think of.

Those are some good bands as well. Nightwish should remind you of opera. It's more along the lines of gothic metal, but they also incorporate symphony into their music, and Tarja was a trained opera singer. Children of Bodom are awesome, but I also like Cradle of Filth. As for Dani Filth's singing, you have to like that particular kind of music, I guess, to like the singing...or growling rather, and screaming. All bands do it differently; you might like it one way but not the other, so it's understandable.

I do not think female singers go too well with metal really. I do like growling and screaming. But if you can't understand it there's really no point in listening to it.

True true. Sometimes if you listen to the song with the lyrics, you can really understand what they're saying, and by the fifth time or so, you can get used to it to where you don't need them anymore. I do that with songs where I really enjoy the music but don't understand what's going on.

I have no problems with anyone singing or playing whatever. I like some and dislike others. It all depends on talent and collaboration I guess.

Most metal I like is restricted to late 80s/early 90s death and thrash. Can't beat it! I like old trad and proto-metal from the 70s too, the musicianship on some of those early records is unsurpassed even today.

And I like Burzum.

mmmm....headbanging goes better with cookies. anyhoo...

I've got more of the interest if more,how do i put it....mellow headbanging? ah meh, headbanging is headbanging, so wtf.

Mudvayne is my choice of music. YAY! them and killswitch Engage.Mainly Mudvayne though. X3

Lol, what's mellow headbanging? :P

I can't headbang myself. It gives me a headache if I have long hair. =/.

I've recently been into Rhapsody of Fire. Good, solid band that is though I daresay uses too many cliches in the power metal genre. Subway to Sally, a medieval metal band, is also amazing. Too bad I can't understand German.

German makes my head pulse with confusion. X3 there's a metal bang that sings in german, i occasionally hear it on squizz, but dear god, the only word i get out of the whole freakin thing is NINE!!!

Nine means no in German guys!*does a wierd little dance*

Are you kidding? German's great! It sounds so raspy and hardcore. Listen to Rammstein, though they're not metal.

But Subway to Sally just makes me want to laugh. Their self-titled debut CD is really funny because they're a German band whose songs sound like Irish folk songs with English lyrics. Nothing makes me happier. :D

I know a few German words:

mein=mine or my or something

rosen=roses

kleid=dress

teil=time

and so on.

What's squizz?

Squizz is a radio station on XM radio. If you got Direct TV, you can get it on channel 0835. all the goodness that is rock and metal.

Ten ways to spoil dinner

Would Metallica be considered Metal. Metal is in the band name. I'm pretty sure. Yeah. And other metal bands I like. Disturbed, Iron Miaden, etc... I like 80's music the best. I'm an 80's person. And I was born in the 90's, kinda weird.

Morte d'Amour

Yeah, Metallica is a metal band. I like Metallica and Iron Maiden as well. Disturbed is actually pretty high up there on my list of favorite bands, but I don't really consider them metal. They're more hard rock to me, but oh well.
