Fen-Fen's favorite bands and artists: Evanescence, Stabbing Westward, Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, Flyleaf, Barenaked Ladies, Rufus Wainwright, Jewel, Michelle Branch, t.A.T.u., Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Lucy Woodward, Sarah McLachlan, Ben Folds Five, Train, David Bowie, Simple Plan, Dido, and more. I will think of more later. Like any of these? Hate em? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Hmmm, out of your list, I like Evanescence, "I'm So Sick" by Flyleaf, Barenaked Ladies, "You Were Meant For Me" by Jewel, Linkin Park, and Sarah McLachlan. I used to be a fan of Good Charlotte, but I don't really listen to them much anymore. But I still recognize them as a good band. A list of some of my favorite bands are located on my profile. XD

Evanescence before TOD

Sarah McLachlan

Linkin Part before Collision Course (ewwww..Jay-Z ruined EVERYTHING! DAMN HIM TO HELL!!)

what else...

I went through an Avril Lavigne/Good Charlotte phase in 8th grade...I was pretty obsessed with "Girls and Boys" and I still have AL's 'Let Go'.

But now, I'm way to into the metal scene to even care.

Sarah McLachlan, though, is one of the few I frequently listen to that isn't metal.

And, I'm in love with "Weird Al" Yankovic's music. That guy is pure genius. =D.

Hahahaha, yeah he is. =)

Sarah McLachlan does have nice songs though. "Angels" and "Building a Mystery" are my favorite.

I still have all my GC music, but I couldn't ever get into Avril Lavigne.

Jay-Z did ruin everything...*sighs* They were a good band too.

I bought The Open Door, and I like Fallen so much better. I like one song from their new album, but that's all I seem to be able to listen to.

I've gotten accustomed to some songs in TOD, like Sweet Sacrifice and Lacrymosa...Like You is good, too. But that's about it. Actually, I like their demos from Origin and older songs better than TOD. But Fallen was an amazing piece of art. I give them that.

I got ToD just recently for my birthday, and my favorite songs from it are Like You, Sweet Sacrifice, and All That I'm Living For. Hahaha everyone loves my favorite bands! I feel so awesome.

I'm trying to get into other songs from TOD. Sometimes, songs grow on me if I listen to them enough. I'm trying to get used to their new feel in music, but in general the songs are all good. I just don't have any other favorites yet.

You should! You have a good taste in music. :)

Sakka-Fenikkusu
Yeah, it's the exact same for me. If I listen to a song 10 times in a row, suddenly I love it. I'm weird that way - I've never really hated a song, ever. Those are just my favorites.

Why, thank you. ^_^

I've recently gotten into Within Temptation. Anyone heard of em?

OMG! I welcome you into the symphonic metal genre!

Lo and behold! Someone else! Yesss!!!

I could give you a whole list of bands to check out if you like WT...where should I start...hmm. Well, check out Mother Earth for WT. I like that.

Ok, for the other bands:

Epica

Lacuna Coil

Nightwish

Midnattsol

Delain

Xandria

Theatre of Tragedy

Leaves' Eyes

Sirenia

Tristania

...

There's a whole bunch if you do your exploring properly.

Heh! I'm so excited. I don't know why. I think it's my secret aim in life to mainstream operatic metal. Though I'm not too sure. =/.

I've heard Epica, Nightwish and Leaves' Eyes of those other bands, and they're all awesome.

I'm excited, too.

That's great! ^_^ No one where I live have ever heard of any of these bands (except a few who've heard of Lacuna Coil), but it's great to know I can find people over the Internet that have at least. Especially Nightwish. I can't believe no one I personally know hasn't ever heard of themm. -_-...

No one I personally know knows Jewel... it's really weird.

Jewel? Really? She's a pretty popular pop star. I'm surprised at that. I don't really know what she sings, but I do like that one song and have at least heard of her.

Sakka-Fenikkusu
Well, I live down south and southerners aren't usually big on Jewel.

Which one song?

#15 Dec 09th 2006, 3:56pm

I live in the South as well, and I overheard a lot of people who know about her. The song I like from her is "You Were Meant For Me."

Sakka-Fenikkusu
Ooooh. Yeah, I have her album Pieces of You and I got Goodbye Alice in Wonderland on my iPod... but I think my absolute favorite of hers is Serve the Ego. If you haven't listened to it, do.

They don't even sell Jewel's albums at Wal-Mart where I am. It took me forever to get PoY...

Morte d'Amour
Alright, I'll check out that song.

Where I live, people like a variety of music. Sad to say, the majority of the people at my school love Paris Hilton which is why I don't have that many friends there...but others are into pop, while a good majority like country, and remaining few like different genres of rock, punk, and metal...remaining few meaning about 3%.

You're not friends with people just because you don't have the same taste in music as them?

I must say I like a wide variety of music as well. I can go with just about any genre from folk-pop to piano rock to... well... anything. I don't think I hate any kind of music in particular, but I'm not huge on country or rap.

#19 Dec 10th 2006, 10:34am
Morte d'Amour
Oh! No of course not. Sorry for insinuating that I did. I also like a variety of music and will listen to ALMOST anything. If I don't like a certain genre, I'll at least like one song or two from it. I'm not big fans of pop or rap, but I still talk to some people who do. It just so happens that everyone I know who are into Paris Hilton are on that extreme side in which our personalities cannot click. I don't judge people over musical reasons; it's just an added bonus if your friends share music interests and another thing to talk about.

None of my friends listen to the music I do. Needless to say, we all have our own tastes. One listens to Swedish rock, among other things, like The Sounds, and another listens to Indian music and...well, you get the idea. =/.

Yeah, I know. :) We all have our own unique tastes with some common ground.

I'm not actually listening to anything right now because I'm studying, but the last thing I was listening to was Nightwish.

Wow! You have a nice, wide range taste in music! You rock! I'm surprised because I've only heard about half of those bands! I must check some of them out when I have some more time. :) Out of all the bands you listed, I'd have to say my absolute favorite out of those are the Misfits and Nightwish. I do like most of the others bands in which I've heard of from your list though. Those include: AFI, Alice Cooper (favorite song is Poison), Blondie, Cannibal Corpse, Coheed and Cambria (not really a fan though), Collide, The Cure, Death in June, Depeche Mode, The Dresden Dolls, Freezepop (heard a song from Guitar Hero 2), Garbage, Incubus, ** Jill, Madonna (also not a fan), Marilyn Manson, Minor Threat, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Misfits, Nightwish, Nine Inch Nails, Pat Benatar (a favorite), Pink Floyd, Rammstein, Shadows Fall, and Queen.

If there's a band I don't know about that's on your list that you think I'd might really like, be sure to let me know. I'm always up for hearing new music. :)

No Bon Scott? No 'Highway to Hell' or 'Back in Black'? Never heard 'Shook me all night long' or 'Hell's Bells'? Never been 'Thunnderstruck'? "It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll"

Utter madness - especially with them being an Australian band.

All hail 80's rock! I do like AC/DC as well. I hope to learn "Highway to Hell" on electic guitar next. I also like their rendition of "Smoke on the Water." I'm more of a Metallica, Motley Crue, and Pantera fan though. I know I should look up more of their songs though, but they are awesome.

It's a lot of very well crafted indie/electronica/acoustic stuff that I personally find have a lot more work put into them.

They're hard working bands that definitely deserve props.

Oh definitely. Even if I'm not a fan of a certain band, I still give them props for doing their thing because the music business is tough.

I listen to all kinds of music, and I've found a few foriegn bands/singers that nobody I know have heard of; which is a shame really. They're all so good.

Cool, a fellow Rammstein fan. Do you have any of their CDs?

I think I may be getting my little sister into Sigur Ros. I downloaded some of their song, and put them on a CD she took to free day at school this week. She said it sounds pretty good.

What type of music is Sugur Ros?

It's kind of like a cross between symphony and soft pop/rock. But it's better if you can listen to the music, the style is kind of difficult to discribe.

Here's a link to a webite where you can listen to some of their music for free.
