Topic: Dark Magic Shop
A normal looking building on the outside, with grey stone with some moss clining to it between some strands of dead ivy.

Inside, the place consists of three rooms; the Herb Room, the Artifacts Room, and the Beasts Room.

The Herb Room has all the ingredients that you would need for a spell, dark or light. Both dried and fresh, with man- or beast-eating plants in a sectioned off area.

The Artifacts Room is filled with floor-to ceiling bookshelves filled with--you guessed it--magical artifacts. From Crystal Balls and Monkey paws to the more obscure, like shed dragon scales, powdered unicorn horn, and the occastional Toe of a Saint. One half of the room contains actual books.

The Beasts Room. Half-barn, half medevil zoo, it is filled with both cages and stalls, with the less troublesome animals (goats and the like) in stalls and less mundane or less flight-risky animals in cages, set in rows with each cage set three feet apart. One wall is a tank, or a section of tanks, if need be. Some of the more volitile carniverous plants are here as well.

Current beasts: a wendigo, and an infant giant squid.((Recently got raided, by the good guys, of all people!))

All the rooms are bespelled that no one can take anything without becoming mummified (so either the owner unmummifies them or they get sold in the shop, quite possiably as firewood) and set so that they are much larger on the inside than the outside. Upstairs, no one knows how many rooms there are thanks to this spell, but they are for rent to paying customers. The roof is a garden for some of the more normal growing magical plants, and the basement is a spellroom and storage room.

The owner is a seedy, bony little man dubbed Crow, for that is what he resembles. He is a bloody coward, and hides behind his somewhat meager powers and the spells of the shop to protect him. He has thinning, oily hair and wears a black cowl at all times. He smells kinda gross and has bad, black lined teeth.

Warning: he's also a letcher.

Anya rushed into the shop.

((By the way, Ferrett got back on to Romance))

A little shining white beast that was neither deer nor goat nor lion nor horse with a little nub sticking out of it's forehead ran past her, hiding behind a shelf.

((Is Anya a virgin?))

((Yes))

"What is going on in here?" Anya asked, looking around the shop, shocked.

A bunch of squat little men that could have been goblins--or pigmies--hobbled past her, trying to catch the little creature.

"Problems with the shipment," Crow rasped.

Anya glared at him angrily for a moment. Using a few concentrated bursts of wind, the squat little men all rose into the air. On occasion she could actually control some things and wind always had been her best element. "Have you tried not scaring the poor little creature?"

Crow looked at her with irritation. "It's going to be flighty anyway. Unicorns are notoriously shy."

"Yeah, well chasing it around obviously isn't helping," she spat. Anya turned to look at the unicorn. "Hey there," she said softly. "It's all right. I'm not going to hurt you."

It backed away from her, shaking.

Anya turned to look at the man. "Why don't you just leave for a few minutes?" she asked, glaring at him.

"Listen, missy. That there is my merchandise. I ain't leavin you alone with it," he responded hotly.

"I'm not going to take anything of yours. Unicorns are more preferential to females." She eyed the shopkeeper. "It's obvious you're not a female, so back off."

"No, not just females," he said, eyeing her critically, "virgins."

"Even more reason for you to leave," she answered. Wow, was this guy thick headed. Either that or as dull as a brick.

Crow threw a spell of unconsciousness at her.

((That's not even right. Okay, it's fun. He won't be able to do anything to her though. Her abilities will still work with her unconscious.))

Anya was caught off guard and collapsed, sinking into darkness.

"Put the unicorn and the virgin in a cage together," he said. It was done in a matter of minutes.

((hee-hee. How long should I leave Anya unconscious?))

((I posted this in the Street))

Makena entered the citadel by levitating far above the wall and then came to rest about a block away from the Dark Magic shop. She stayed in the shadows for a bit, listening intently to something and then started off at a fast crawl in the direction of the shop itself. After quite a bit of crawling, she stopped in front of the shop and sat there, thinking. A loose piece of stone suddenly crashed against the door.

"Watch it!" Crow yelled, opening the door in an attemt to push the rock away from it. He noticed the baby and looked around, puzzled. "Where'd you come from?"

An idea occured to him. If people would buy virgins, would they want infants as well? He smiled oily at the infant. "Come here, little...thing," he said, picking her up and holding her at arm's length.

Makena grinned at Crow, showing him her fangs, and sent him a thought, -You want to put me down-

Crow gave a startled shout but kept hold of her. "A vampire baby? You just uped your price sweetheart!"

Makena's eyes turned deep sapphire and a priceless piece of pottery came flying at Crow's head.

A priceless piece of pottery that was a jar of containment, which Crow grabbed and stuffed her in.

((*evil laughter*))

Makena enacted her levitation and crashed herself and the jar against the stone wall, in an attempt to break it open.

((Now, I don't know how jars of containment work exactly....so you'll have to tell me if Makena's plan will work))

#28 Dec 22nd 2007, 10:49am

((Any magic enacted within the jar itself would be moot, so nothing she does will work until the lid is opened.))

Crow picked up the jar and carried it back to the Beasts Room, putting it in the cage next to the unicorn, across the isle from the virgin, putting a lable saying "Baby Vampyr" on it.

((We should get Andrew's Erif in on this. He is good with animals and hasn't had a lot of action.))

((Awwww, poor Makena!))

Makena sat in the jar, arms crossed, and frowned. -Stupid adult.- Then she giggled as she got an sudden idea and covered her ears. She started crying. As loud as she possibly could. A deafening shriek to anyone who happened to be in the area.

((Will Crow hear her?))

Monique strolled by the shop when she heard a deafening shriek. She winced and turned to Tampire, who seemed unaffected by the noise, and he opened the door. A skinny little man with rags shoved into his ears and a pained expression on his face greated them.

"What is that racket?" she asked without preamble.

"Baby. Vampire baby," he replied.

She perked up. "Baby? How much?"

Tampire looked at her with a slight widening of the eyes; he was astonished.

Makena immediately shut up and started shaking with fear. -DADDY! BWUDDERS!- She screeched, hoping that they'd hear her.

((will they?))

((Lucky her she's still attached to the twins))

Crow showed Monique where the jar was. "Servant," she said carelessly, handing over the asked price for the "Baby Vampyr" and ten times what the jar was worth.

Tampire bent and carefully lifted the jar, holding it delicately in his arms.

"Let's go," Monique said, striding out of the shop.

Makena started shaking uncontrollably, crying for real this time and sending pleading thoughts to her father, brothers, and the twins.

Anya moaned as she began to come to. As she opened her eyes, she saw bars. She sat up quickly. "Hey! Let me out of here!"

Crow scowled. "Sir, this is a magic shop; no place for children. I assure you that there is no 'little baby' in this shop."

"But there was only minutes ago." Ren stated, taking a step closer to the man and decided to try another tactic. "What did you do with the baby Vampire?"

He heard the shout from the back room and his scowl deepened, "What the hell are you doing here?" He demanded of Crow.

"Hey, jerk! Let me out of here!" Anya yelled, her eyes darkening to where they nearly looked black.

((Cages are magic-proof. The better to hold magical creatures.))

"My daughter," Crow said easily. "I sent her to her room. Teenagers, you know."

The little unicorn looked at Anya, big, soulful eyes frightened.

((darn...haha, funny stuff there echo. daughter - teenagers. lol))

Anya looked at the unicorn. "It'll be fine," she said softly.

"I don't know what kind of business you're running but locking up your customers doesn't seem like an appropriate thing to do," she yelled.

Crow flushed. "Stop trying to hurt my buisness you brat!" he yelled to the back room. "Kids," he chuckled nervously to Ren. "WHat can you do?"

The unicorn bleated softly and backed away from her, going as far as it could without touching the metal bars.

"Hurt your business? You've already hurt your business. When I get out of here, I'm going to destroy this place, you **!"
