Tempire looked at her in surprise, "What was that?"

-I believe, my dear Tempire, that that was a soulbond,- she answered, the words not stated but thought and felt. Soulbonding connected partners in many ways: partners could mindspeak to each other, feel each others emotions when allowed or in extreme distress, as well as being aware the moment their partner is injured or killed.

He could only look at her, astounded.

-I didn't think it would happen this soon. I'm sorry I didn't warn you sooner.-

She sighed. "There's still time to break the bond; it hasn't solidified yet."

He looked, if possible, more surprised. "Why would I want to do that?" he asked, stroking her hair back from her face.

"I'm sorry. I should have asked you before the bond began," she answered. "Do...you want it?"

She hoped he would. In fact, she believed he would...but she wanted to ask, to give him the option.

"Of course," he said, not bothering to hide his surprise at all of this. "Don't you?" he asked, suddenly terrified she would say no. That he hid.

-I've wanted this for a while now...I just never knew if you...would ever want it.-

"I love you, Tempire," she said softly, gazing up at him with loving blue-green eyes.

-For a long time I didn't know what I wanted, but I came to realize...-

"I love you too," he finished aloud.

Anya smiled at him. "Would...would you like to meet my parents?"

He nodded, cautiously. "Unless you can think of a good reason for them not to meet me. And I believe revealing certain things about me right away would be a mistake."

"You are my partner and that is all that they need to know," she answered.

He pretended to hesitate a moment more. "Are they scary?" he asked, making a mock-frightened face totally out of character on his countenance.
