Topic: Ideas...
I have an idea for a series of poems about cutting, suicide, drugs, breaking away from friends, growing up, and cheating. What do you guys think?

How does one post on this site anyway? I think you've got a great idea there, but I have no idea on how to post anything on here.

Ugh. Those ideas are immensely trite, cliched and overwritten.

If you're going to do it, put a unique spin on it and avoid cliches but really the world doesn't need more of that kind of poetry.

i did a unique form of self mutalition in a poem. i used trichotillomania. i described the feelings as they came. perhaps doing that would work for you

Um, well, .....actually, sure. Now that I think of it, a lot of mine is like that, but I hide it within the figurative language, and actually, in that way, it sounds much more poetic and beautiful!

I think I've just about had it with the whole "I'm going to cut myself and cry a river" thing. Honestly if you want to write about depression and stuff, write about the feelings themselves because I'm getting tired of reading about how you cut yourself and how you want to die...

Honetly, I don't really want to die, I just enjoy pain. and when things go wrong in life cutting helps. But I understand what you are saying. Make it pretty.

Cutting always makes it feel better but i don't understand why you want to put it all out there...i mean people are always going to see it the wrong way and it's better to just leave it alone most of the time...

Trichotillomania... that is very interesting. I'm going to go check it out.

As for writing about any of the above topics... it better have a damned good summary for me to even begin to consider reading in. And then half-way through, I still may abandon it. These subjects are so overexhausted, it's hard to come up with a unique take on them. But if you can, all the power to you.

well i guess is all depends,

if your going to write about those kinds of things, write them from your point of view, becuase if you write from someone elses POV it tends to come off a little unrealistic, but thats just my personal experiance,

but you've got mad skills, and are a million times better a writer than me, then you can write about whatever you want, from whoevers POV.

the other thing I find is that sometimes dramatic poetry can be a little overdone too,

but thats mostly when i stumble across the whole

"My life is spiraling downwards into a black abyss, i feel nothing, i am devoid of all emotion, so i thought i would write a sappy poem and include every cliché i could think of just to irritate you."

so i guess its all based on opinion and talent

i say go for it, theres no harm in tyring it out =D

poetry is meant to be a release of emotion. if you feel you need to write about that, then do it.
