Topic: What's your nightmare?
What's the scariest thing or scenario that you can come up with? Everyone has different fears, and sharing can be fun and gives ideas for stories!

Mine...would have to be drowning..its not really supernatural...but seeing the surface and not being to reach it and having to take in breaths of water knowingly... Maybe a sea creature would be dragging me down into the murky depths :O

Welcome to the campfire! And thank you for posting such an interesting topic. Ok, that been said, my worst nightmare has to do with my two greatest fears: agoraphobia (fear of heights) and claustrophobia. I once saw a movie about mobsters that locked a man inside a safe and drop it from a building, I almost fainted.

Guess that doesn’t have to do with the supernatural either, but my worst nightmare about the supernatural is fading away, just that, slowly disappearing from the face of earth or being eaten from within by some insect like creature.

Hmm.... I'm claustrophobic also. But it doesn't bother me unless the place is REALLY small. But as for supernatural... probably getting taken to hell and tortured for the rest of my life with needles (another thing i'm afraid of). Than getting like skinned alive overe and over again. That would hurt.

The skinned alive thing made me think of Texas Chainsaw Massacre ^^'

That's some scary stuff right there.

I lied before, chainsaws are the scariest thing I can think of. Just the noise they make they sound aliiiive

Skinned alive? Definitely scary but I have to say that back home (I'm Mexican) that was part of the worship rituals for Xipe Totec (Our lord the flayed,an Aztec deity) and it symbolized the renewal of life, sort of a resurrection ritual related with spring. And Xipe Totec wasn't a bad guy either, he had flayed his own skin to feed the ppl, it was a metaphor for the corn. Ok so they did sacrifice ppl by flaying them but it was to keep the world going on. But to have your skin grow back just to be taken away over and over, that adds a new dimension of horror to it *shivers*

And yes the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is scary; guess humans can be as scary as any supernatural creature.

Oh and I said agoraphobia when I meant acrophobia, Freudian slip I guess =P, I don't like open spaces or crowded places but I'm not afraid of them *at least I don't think so*.

Things under my skin, the literal sense *shudders* Especially in the first mummy movie with the scorpians I duno if that would count as supernatural...but I dunno, I think scary for me at least would be repeating the same day again, like a really bad day where you wathced peoeple you loved get murdered or soemthing, or felt yourself die.

I loved the first mummy movie. Especially when those beetles crawled under people's skin. I guess watching someone you care about die in front of you would be bad.

Definitely being locked in the dark... and you know (or at least believe deeply) that there is something in there with you... I'm not really terrified of the supernatural, since I'm interested in it and I understand it, but... it's just that once you realize some things... you really get scared of the things you might make up...

Sure, you might not be scared of the dark when you're asleep in your room... but what if you're in the middle of nowhere and it's COMPLETELY dark? What if you unknowingly stumble across some ancient, violent spirit that no one has ever heard of before? I respect the supernatural... but, sadly, I'm no expert at dealing with the subject...

Hmm...my worst nightmare would have to be drowning. In an underwater maze. Where other THINGS are looking at me, and they're far better at swiming than I am...

In case it hasn't been noticed, I don't like water. :-) I'm actually not claustophobic, strangely. I don't like being in dark rooms that are large, but small spaces are fine by me!

I real life, I'm afraid of having a heart-attack and dying alone in my bed. I'm very young but my heart beat irregularly and it thumps really hard sometimes.

I'm not afraid of anything supernatural simply because I don't believe in the existance of most supernatural beings, but lets say I were in a movie, then I'd be afraid of having my testacles knawed off by giant cockroaches. Ehck makes me cringe.

mine would have to be being trapped, mentally of physically (like mind control or jail) which can lead into the supernatural it may seem like a stupid fear until you think about it...

Oh Bitter irony, don’t underestimate the score of unseen horrors that can hide with you in small dark spaces, but I get you, in fact your nightmare reminded me of an experience I had with leeches *cringes*.

Mirror Egami’s nightmare came to me as a surprise, at first I thought it was not that dreadful, I mean in real life we are usually confronted with having to do things we don’t like, sometimes work or school can seem to be a conductist experiment =P. So I was unable to see what was so nightmarish about it that is until my brother mentioned concentration camps and my best friend mentioned beaten wives, so yes I can see the horror in that one too.

Not surprisingly insectlike creatures seem to be in the top ten nightmares. Have you ever wonder why if they are a part of nature why do we seem to regard them with the same dread we hold for undead creatures and monsters?

Ok this isn't a supernatural fear but i can assure you it's different. I'm afraid of turtles. Though I think I would just die right then and there if I was in a small room filled with them. I am also claustrophobic, but only if there's light, i'm ok if it's dark cause I can make myself belive it's open.

I hate psycho-evil demon children. You know the ones with the pasty skins and black eyes that are completely bitchy to kill if the hero ever does.

I hate little evil kids that always seem to be nude!!!! they freak me out sooo bad!!! My fear would be something I luv turning on me and then killing me very very slowly in the dark where I can't see to fight back. *screams* I wouldn't be scared if I could just fight back!!! But it is still topped by the evil kids. kinda ironic that I babysit.

I love writing about kids like that. I'm writing a screenplay called, "Daemon's House" about a little boy like that. I'm loving it to death! I don't know what the phobia is called, but I have a fear of too large places with too many people. I get really dizzy and sick, and then it seems as if everybody's voices merges into one big scary voice. I don't think that's supernatural, but it is my odd fear. (Museums and Wal-Mart get me the most)

I think that's called Agoraphobia (The fear of open spaces) or something like that.

I knew it was something like that. Except I don't think I have a phobia, because that would mean my fear would be much worst right? I'll look into agoraphobia.

I have a terror similar to that only it involves something similar to the hydra of greek mythology, but at the end of each of its necks are the hads of a pale skinned woman with long flowing black hair, slitted pupils and nostrals like a snake, and a long forked tongue. In my nightmare, I'm in the middle of a dirty lake with it's necks wraped around me like tenticles and those horrible creepy faces everywhere... *shivers*

I have a new idea for a supernatural story, and it has become my worst fear over agoraphobia. I just had a nightmare about it recently. In a story that I want to start writing soon, vampires take over. My prologue should explain the war between the vampires and the humans. The way I see it in my head, it is so scary. But that's not what I'm afraid of (Or what my nightmare consisted of); I would be afraid to be the enslaved human. It's harder for females too in my story. The female is usually raped and then they get tubes put into their body that sucks out all of the blood for the vampires to eat. It scares the bajesus out of me. Myabe not you, but me.

In my nightmare I was being raped by the craziest vampire of the story; they call him delusion. It was just scary. *Shudders*

I fear being deaf, blind and mute. Being next to brain dead, a vegetable in a sense. I love life, I don't fear death, it's the next great adventure but I don't want to waste the time that I have. Is there a fancy word for that one?

Enslavement would be the next one or lack of freedom. Rape, violence, pain, blood, those don't really scare me...odd how that is huh...I mean sure they disturb and disgust me but I don't fear them.

I like to think along the lines of "Fear is a disease and I shalt not fall ill", in other words I seek out things that might scare me just to conquer them. Maybe what I fear is fear...huh never thought of it that ways. Anyways enough of my mindless ramblings...

Imminent Frights would probably include to find yourself locked in a tiny chamber which slowly, very slowly, is getting smaller and smaller. There is air support somehow but you don't know how, but it prevents you from the rather easy death of suffocation. You also don't know how the four walls and the ceiling/floor gets smaller as you don't see any lines along the corners. It just does, until you get crushed very slowly and painfully.

The kind of ultimate claustrophobic fear.. and no, i am not claustrophobic :D

I have dozens of nightmares when it comes to supernatural stuff (most of it abt. demon possessing a person I'm with in the dream, demon possessing a dog, an evil dwarf, a black cherub without a body head, shouldrs and broken wings are the only things it has, a woman's ghost)

All of the mentioned above are from different dreams (I can't recall the others) the only thing in common they have (except the dwarf) : CHASING. They chase after me, and I'm this teeny, tiny bit away from fainting in my own dream. The only reason why they can't get me is because of prayers (nerdy, but true.) And I hate it.

During my dream with the dwarf, he kidnapped me and wants me to marry him (I dreamt that he stripped my clothes of YUCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and I escaped by jumping through the window and that's where the part I woke up. (I used this scene in one of the chapters in my story)

(black cherubim): I don't know why I'm super scared of this. The fact that it chased after me in this mountain (we lived near a mountain before), with a lifeless stare, empty eyes, THE FACT THAT IT'S A CREEPY FAST-FLYING STATUE took years out of my lifespan. (T.T) I had to pray a lot so it won't reach me, then, in a part of the dream, we stood on opposite ends of a hanging bridge, and in a blink, it zoomed in front of me, giving me a good close-up of its weird, creepiest-creepy face. (I never looked at cherubim statues the same way again, even the painted and sweet-looking ones. My mom has an angel figurine collection. THE PAIIIINNNNN!!!)

In another dream (demon possessing a person) The settings like this: A camping and my 'friend' and I ventured off, until we rested. He became possessed, and the demon was trying to come near me-I prayed the "GLORY BE"and when I was halfway, he prayed with me, until I woke up and prayed that prayer again, BUT when I came to the part where the demon in my dream prayed with me, the lines of that prayer were totally erased from my brain...there's also a dream, where the same thing happened; this time, it's the 'Apostle's Creed' and I was muttering it half-asleep. I think I was dreaming when I heard this friggin deep voice pray the lines with me I could feel warm breath on my ears, but I still think it's a dream

Another: WARNING: Don't fall asleep when saying prayers. Why? This happened to me twice already (in my room and in our province) I felt so sleepy that I didn't finish my prayer-when I opened my eyes, there's a floating, glowing scorpion-like thing at the foot of my bed. I felt scared, closed my eyes, continued the prayer, then, when I opened them, the thingy was gone. When this happened again, the scorpion thing was floating above me, in front of the wall fan. (Maybe I was dreaming again... -.-' ) --------I have a friend who claims he has a third eye, he told me that it's not a scorpion thing. The "body of what-I-thought-was-a-scorpion-thing" is a portal and the "scorpion-feet" are actually fingers, trying to tear their way out.

I wish he never told me that because it creeped the life out of me! sniff I hate these dreams.. sniff

I have a notebook with all the nightmares I could remember bec. I thought it'll have a future use for my stories but i lost it. I don't know if I should be happy or not. -.-?

-----I'm 19 and I still have night terrors because of these dreams...and there's this one, ULTIMATELY PETRIFYING DREAM i had when I was little that turned me into the scaredy cat I am now..:( I'm still too scared to talk about it, OR think about it bcoz everytime I do, I become EXTREMELY PARANOID like now, but I'm trying hard, hard, hard to distract myself (.)

If you want to hear about the things I see when I'm drunk, feel free to ask... JUST A REMINDER: alcohol doesn't make me imagine things.. In one occassion, the person I was with saw the same thing I saw. *nods

sniffff... T.T I hate nightmares, I hate nightmares, I hate nightmares.

Well, I had a nice dream too, but I was a kid back then...but I'm not posting it here, it's pretty mushy and stupid.. lol sorry for taking up a lot of space! hugs and kisses

(now, how do I make myself fall asleep with these things running in my head??? *kicks self...HARD*
