What's not fine is that it's nearing the end of the semester so I have a lot of essays due very soon. Meaning, I don't have time to write Nocte. Those of you who have been reading my LiveJournal will know that.

So there will be no update this Friday. But in the spirit of All Hallows Eve, I'd like to give you a treat (and not a trick).

“Y-your necklace,” the princess sounded in awe.

“Huh?”

“I-it’s the Yang Courting Necklace…”

Nocte blushed and stowed it back underneath her shirt. Her heart beat against the diamond and she closed her eyes, suddenly feeling his fingers at her nape, just lightly touching – ghost fingers that sent shivers down her spine. She breathed in sharply, air passing her teeth and against her tongue, and came to a realization.

“But you’re a Yin…” Měi Fèng continued, confused.

“He didn’t know,” Nocte said, her stomach clenching. She turned to face the princess. “When he gave to me… he hadn’t known I was a Yin then.”

“And now?”

Nocte didn’t answer.

And that was all that needed to be said.

“Listen,” Nocte said. “I was given orders to deliver you to Lord Yang, but we can’t cross the river without detection – at least, I don’t want to try our luck.”

“Then what should we do?” Měi Fèng asked, playing with the jade bangle around her wrist and biting her lower lip in nervousness.

“I think we should go to Hero Academy,” Nocte said.

The princess gasped.

“I think we should see Delano Yang.”
