diceKTopic: Firearms, swords, vehicles, oh my Hello from an amateur weapons nut. If you need any advice regarding weapons of any kind, be it blades, rifles, or tanks, I'll try to answer any questions you might have. I used to be a writer until I started half a dozen stories and never finished any of them... so for now I am helping out fellow writers. Bring 'em questions on! |

AcklHmmmmm, a thread for helping with weapons. Along with diceK, I guess I'll help, nothing better to do,and I know a fair share about firearms if no other weapons. |
cabloobyes, this is gonna help so much. So pretty much, how does a weapon work? do you load, ** and fire? do you ** it more than once, or just after reloading? please help me out i really appreciate it. give me as much info as you can, thanks! |
AcklDepends on the weapon, some operate slightly differently than others. If you can be more specific I'd be glad to provide information on said weapon. |
cabloobdoes it depend on the the mark (smith and wesson etc) or just the type of gun. if its the type, how would you operate a handgun? |
AcklHandgun is an umbrella term for pistols and revolvers. It really comes down to the exact weapon. |

diceKNo problemo. One example would be the German-manufacture, Heckler und Koch Machinen Pistole Model 5, also known as the MP-5. One of the best and most popular submachine guns in the world. It uses a roller-locking blowback operated action, which means that after the initial shot is fired, the action stays immobile for a fraction of a second and then is moved back by the explosive force of the bullet. When it comes back forward again, it picks up a bullet and puts it into the firing chamber, where the firing pin rams into the back of the bullet and sets off the cartridge explosives. This drives the action back and starts the whole process over again. The MP-5 is also closed-bolt, which means that the whole system is contained inside a metal shroud. This improves accuracy. To fire, all you have to do is move the cocking handle down and pull the trigger (of course, the safety has to be off). Most handguns use the slide method. The force of the bullet shoves the slide back, which disposes of the spent cartridge. On its way back, it slides another bullet into the chamber to prepare it for another shot. In most weapons, such as the M1911A1 and the Beretta M9, the hammer has to be cocked back for the gun to fire. In others, all you have to do is unsafe the gun and pull the trigger. In the Glock, you can just pull the trigger (the safety is in the trigger). Did that help? |

diceKThe AK series of weapon is an open-bolt, automatic machine gun designed for spraying at middle- and close- range. The action is a big piece of metal that recoils after each shot. The action is not recoil driven; it uses a gas piston system above the barrel to move the action. The action (huge compared to other guns) rides on rails, and is completely separate from the rest of the gun. This reduces accuracy but makes the gun fireable in the most extreme conditions. |

Desperado FoxThats all for Automatic and Semiautomatic guns. I have always been a fan of colt magnum revolvers. Stopping power is killer (no pun intended). |
