Topic: Sunshine Cafe
It was another nice day at the Sunshine Cafe. Unlike most of the city, it was at the border, near the coastline. Because of this, they could boast sunlight during the afternoon. The roof was made of glass purely for this reason. Everyday, from one 'til seven, the sun shone down upon the people inside. That day, it was nearly cloudless, so the inhabitants were able to enjoy the sun very much.

Outside, the beach could be seen. It was one of the few places on the island city-state where the land went down to meet the sea instead of dropping off a cliff. Most of the cafe's customers were folks who came to the beach on day trips. As such, the motto of the cafe was, "No shirt, no shoes, it's okay as long as you have pants."

The layout was simple: most of the tables there were for four people, though they could easily be moved about and brought together. On all the walls there were pictures of country and suburban settings, things that most of the residents of the city even knew of.

The cafe was peaceful. It was one of the few places in the city that were so. The gangs never bothered the cafe because there was no money to be made, and the police never bothered the cafe because there was never anything suspicious.

There was no bar at the cafe; it was a family restaurant, and they did not want to risk having drunkard come there like the other establishments.

Although they called themselves a cafe, they served much more than coffee. They had a fully functional kitchen, and they served many different kinds of food, from burgers to pizza to omelettes to pasta.

((Player controllable NPCs: Mack, the cook; Juliet, the waitress; and Dan, the busboy.

Mack is kind and likes to make jokes. Juliet is patient and sweet. Dan is shy and is trying to become a musician (guitarrist). I know, it's cheesy, but it's the Sunshine Cafe. Get used to it.))

Karen sat in the corner booth of the sunshine cafe eating some eggs and bacon, keeping her eyes on the entrance. Next to her sat a large nondescript black case, containing her disasembled SS-RG7T3.

Slythris entered the cafe quietly. This was one of the places that galled him, it's quiet, cliche happiness. He dreamed of the day he could courupt this last bastion of idyllic life into a hellhole of couruption. The demon sat down at a table and examined the occupants. It was mostly the usual, beach goers, kind people trying to avoid the turmoil of the city, no one to cause trouble. Then he noticed a young woman sitting at one of the tables.

ah, perhaps there was one.

((yay! More people to RP with!))

Karen saw the man walk in and take a seat, but didn't take much notice to him till he looked at her. She wasn't sure who he was but he could be with her former employers. Carefully, she slid her hand under the table and unstrapped one of her pistol's. 'Better safe than sorry' she thought.

((oh i forgot to write in her bio that she is ambidextrous :) im so forgetful.))

((hehe, the lack of left-handed characters everywhere is one of my pet-pieves.))

Slythris let a smile cross his lips.

"That woman's next drink is on me." He told the waitress quietly. Then he merely waited for the right moment to introduce itself.

((remember, apart from his really wierd skin and clothing he looks like a 16 year old.))

Karen was finishing up what was left on her plate when the waitress came over with a glass of orange juice. "I didn't ask for another glass."

The waitress pointed to the man that had eyed her earlier, "That gentleman over there bought you the drink."

Bewildered, she stared at the glass, not sure if it was full of posion or not. 'Well...why not this isn't a that bad dieing free.' she thought as she took a sip.

((funny buying a girl a glass of OJ, LOL))

((*shrugs* I just ordered her another drink, I didn't specify what.))

Slythris got up from his table and moved over to Karen's, taking the seat opposite her. "Odd to see someone like you in a place like this." He commented absent-mindedly, looking out the window rather then at her. His voice was musical, harmonic.

((oh, Slythris' voice has special properties. It makes him sound more pleasant, nicer, trustworthy. Anything he says sounds like a good idea, and it always take an effort to resist the effect.))

((ya i was rereading the profile))

The boy, it seemed he was a little younger than she first thought, had really odd white eyes and his skin was blotchy skin. His voice, when he spoke was... reassuring almost. Slowly she took her hand off her pistol. "Someone like me?"

"This place is peaceful, a harbor for those who are ignorant of the struggles their fellows go through." He watched the crowds moving through the cafe, brilliantly highlighted by the sun shinning through the roof. Slythris turned and looked straight at her for the first time. "You're not like them. I can sense it." His voice almost seemed to dance in the sunlight, playing peaceful melodies underneath the words.

His words put her at ease, but she didn't really want to tell him about her past, or the real reason's why she was here. "I don't really want to talk about why I'm here." she said to him. It wasn't a lie but it wasn't the whole truth either.

((sorry to say but im going to go see resident evil extintion in a bit so i'll be on for a bit longer, but i'll be on for much longer afterwards))

"Fair enough." He extended a hand "My name's Isaac Calinson, what's your's?" He practically sang the words out. He was sure of it now, she was someone trying to escape. Someone who though they could claw their way out of the more desperate part of the world.

There were few things more satisfying then crushing those dreams.

"Karen Silva." She replied, and was about to take his hand when she noticed something. She never ever made contact, normally she was a distant withdraw person that avoided physical contact, but now this boy was getting her to do just that. 'How? Why?' she asked herself. She decided it might be best to have her pistol at the ready agian, and reached for it under the table with her left hand while taking his hand in her right.

((god so evil!! and it's awesome too))

((I don't know why, but I'm really good at writting evil characters. I'm the antagonist in like five quests on another forum.))

"Nice to meet you Karen." He smiled, pretending not to notice one hand going under the table. "You have beautiful eyes. Mine have always been a bit of a... hinderance to me. A bit of a birth defect." The chords in his voice played like a lyre. A good tactic with people who didn't like talking about themselves was to talk about yourself. It made them feel more comfortable, and maybe let their guard down.

Slythris let his face fall into an empathetic frown. Sadness flowed into his voice, but not too much.

"I know how you feel. I never knew my parents either."

Talk about yourself, let them feel like you're the one volunteering information. It makes them more comfortable telling you about themselves.

Karen almost felt that this boy was a kindred spirit, almost. "Oh... I'm sorry." She said. She really did not want to stay here much longer... or she might end up saying more about her past. She looked at the clock above the bar, as if to check the time. "Oh no. I'm late for my appointment." She lied and called for the bill.

She seemed a bit intelligent too. She hadn't tripped and fallen straight into his play, and now she was trying to pull out. The question was, should he let her go, find out more about her, and then bump into her again. Or should he try appealing to her sense of pity, blotched skin made a very good pity drawing mechanism. Slthris decided that it would be better to let her go, it would allay her suspicions.

"oh, I'm sorry. Let me take the bill, I wouldn't want to be responsible for delaying you."

"Oh, Thank you... well i better hurry." She replied as she picked up her case and walked out the the door and into the city. Quickly deciding it would be best to get lost in the crowds of the city, she headed inland.

"It was nice meeting you Karen." He said, although she had already walked out the door. She would be a good starting point. He paid the bill and beckoned to the bussboy.

"Do you know anything about that girl who just left?" Slythris asked. The busboy shook his head.

"No, she's only come here once."

"oh, I see. She has beautiful eyes." Slythris said, planting the idea into the busboy's mind. As the kid went off to clean up tables Slythris sat back to think.

Alex entered the cafe. He didn't really like this place, it was so... stereotypical. But it was cheap and no one would bother him here. He sat down at a table, a few minutes later the waitress came over.

"Can I get your order?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'll just have a coke." He said. She left and came back a few moments later with a glass of coke-cola and placed it on the table in front of him.

"Anything else?" She asked.

"No thanks."

"That'll be two dollers then."

Alex fished out a doller from his wallet and put it on the table. "um, sir. That's only one doller." The waitress said.

"No, it's two." Was the reply, he didn't even bother looking up.

"Er..." She looked at the lonely doller again, but it there were two bills there now. "oh, my mistake." She said, taking the two bills.

Enter Andres Borgetti

Walking in, barefoot and in a Mexico futbol shirt and black gym shorts, Andres went around to a less crowded part of the cafe and tossed his soccer ball into the air, beginning to juggle it around, smiling of enjoyment.

Enter Lillian

In came a slender beauty, wavy blonde-reddish hair falling all about her shoulders and down to her waist. Her amber-brown eyes swept the room with a brief searching glance. Seemingly satisfied with the cheery atmosphere, the woman walked in and sat down at the nearest table. For the few seconds that she'd walked, one could tell she was having trouble keeping a steady gait. It was also clear that she'd just been down at the beach: sand formed a soft crust all along her legs, small feet and flip-flops. Salty ocean water still glistened in her damp long hair and the flower-printed tank dress she was wearing had noticeable wet patches. But this was a regular sight for a beach cafe, so Juliet only smiled broadly at the new customer and handed her a menu.

Lillian only shook her head, "Eh...no, thank you," she refused as if Juliet had handed her a bucket full of slop. The waitress's smile faded slightly and she went off to serve the less stingy customers.

Combing her hair with delicate fingers in a fidgety sort of way, Lillian looked about the room, smiling false smiles and obviously disliking everything about the Sunshine in general.

Seeing Lillian enter, Andres kicked his ball up higher and caught it, walking over towards the mermaid. "Hello there, bonita." He said with a grin, leaning on the chair across from her. "You mind?" He asked, gesturing to the chair he's leaning on.

"Ahh..." the expression on Lillian's face rather portrayed that she did mind, but instead she just gave another false smile and shook her head. Leaning forward, elbows on the table, chin propped on her hands, she eyed Andres very closely. Such a gaze would give anyone the feeling of being inspected.

"This might be a random question, but do you have any disabilities or mental problems?" she suddenly asked.
