"Perfect!" Lillian said, beaming. Standing up, she took his hand, "Hey, maybe you'd like to meet me at the beach later today? Say, at sunset?"

While waiting for his response, her eyes scanned the room again, settling on Sandra. She looked at the young woman a minute, then nodded slightly to herself.

Sandra yawned and took a bite of her hamburger. Her brother was late, as usual. She wondered why he had such a problem with punctuality, even though both of their parents were always very concerned with meeting appointments on time.

"Sure." Andres replied, a bit confused at her forward and excitement, but hid those emotions with a grin. "Sounds good to me."

"Great, I'll see you then," she said, and without further ado, she walked away from him and over to Sandra.

"Ahem," she cleared her throat, sitting down, "I'm Lillian. Do you have any mental problems or disabilities?"

Sandra nearly choked on her hamburger. "I'm sorry, what did you just say?"

Lillian sighed, as if dealing with a child, and repeated her question.

"No! Why would you think that?!"

Andres watched the woman with curiosity. -A blunt one.- He commented, then tossed his ball back up and began juggling it some more.

"Calm down, I was just checking," Lillian said, frowning. Some moments passed; the woman was considering something. Finally she posed her next question, "Are you afraid of water?"

Sandra answered, "No. I like swimming."

"Great!" Lillian said, "In that case, maybe you'd like to come down to the beach with me at sunset for a swim? I promise you it'll be fun."

"With all due respect, I can't." Sandra wondered what this woman was trying to get at.

A flash of annoyance crossed Lillian's face, before she swiftly replaced it with a sticky sweet smile, "Oh, come on," she said very softly, "It'll be really fun..." her voice was like a soothing sea breeze, the type that just begged you to dive in. Pressing her compulsion even more strongly on Sandra, the mermaid took the woman's hand and stood up, "In fact, why should we wait till sunset? Let's go now, while the sun is hot and the water so blissfully cool."

Sandra was tempted to listen to Lillian, which struck her as odd. She blurted, "N-no! I'm waiting for someone!"

"Whoever you're waiting for is down by the beach!" Lillian said, as if it were obvious, "Come on! You'll have to catch them before they leave..." she made to pull Sandra towards the door, and on her way she used her free hand to take Andres's, "What are you waiting for? Join us!" she called, her Lure at its strongest now.

Andres just shrugged and stood up, ready to leave.

Sandra followed, blushing. She found it difficult to protest, despite the fact she knew that this was ridiculous.

Lillian led them cheerfully out of the Cafe, and the three of them headed for the beach...

Evelyn entered to friendly cafe with a little smile on her lips as she looked around. It looked very nice. She was finally here in Ultropolis. After breakfast she would have to get settled in her new apartment.

The cafe was empty but for a couple of staff.. It made Evie feel more comfortable. Once she had seated herself she brushed back the brown hair from her eyes and lifted the menu and began scanning its selection of trays.

After she had ordered a light breakfast Evelyn took out a fashion magazine ready to read the latest on beautiful lifestyle. It was quite boring but it was better than nothing. Evie couldn't stand doing nothing. She frowned when she recognized herself on the front. Her hair was bleach blond and she was in a sky blue bikini on the beach. Not wanting to attract attention she used the menu to cover the front as she read. She wished she had thought to bring her laptop in from her car. She might have finished the article on a real sighting of a ghost somewhere in New York.

((*sigh* although she prefers to be the only one in the cafe i don't.))

((RS to the rescue.))

High in the sky above the Cafe's famous glass ceiling, the sun glared down upon the residents, bright and clear as if having just peeked out from behind the cloud. Everything in the restaurant was white-washed in light. Juliet, the waitress, had only blinked, and suddenly she felt as if she'd just walked out of a pitch dark room and into direct sunlight.

"That's...weird," she remarked to no one in particular. Then the bell above the doorway rang slightly as someone entered.

A man in a dazzling white suit strolled in calmly, looking about through piercing gray eyes. His white-blonde hair, combed and neck-length, shone like a mirror reflecting every shimmer of light that touched it. Ignoring the waitress and bus boy's stare, (or their attempts at it. Each was squinting and blinking rapidly as they tried to take in his brilliance,) he sat down at the nearest table.

Evie looked over her magazine and menu squinting. A bright white man had just come in and he was hard to see. She couldn't help it when one of her eyebrows rose. And the sun must have come out from under a cloud because the room was much brighten and more vibrant. When the man sat at a table right next to hers she quickly hid her face back into her magazine. However she wasn't reading the words on truth of herbal skin care. All she was thinking about was the possibility that this man was an angel or a sun messenger. He might even be a star. What ever he was he made Evelyn want to put on her sunglasses. With that thought she promptly reached into her purse chose a pair that matched her clothing well and slipped them on.

When she glanced over now she corrected herself in her previous description of a "white man" He had some color, barely.

Lux picked up the menu and glanced at it, but his gaze was drawn to the dark-haired beauty who'd just put on her sunglasses, "Oh god," he sighed, annoyed. It seemed everywhere he went, people put on their shades. In disgust he lifted the menu to hide his face and just stared at it, though his mind was elsewhere.

"Can I, um, get you anything sir?" Juliet asked, coming up to him.

"Coffee. Black," came the crisp reply.

"Er, OK," she said, still unnerved, and hurriedly scuttled off.

Dropping the menu, Lux looked around at the almost empty cafe. Hmm, no opportunities here. Absently he began twiddling his hands, and the rays about his fingers bent and moved, slowly forming a sort of sunflower waving back and forth.

Evelyn looked over her menu and stared at the flower on the mans table. It was made of light. She slowly lifted her glasses to her hairline and peered at it. It was still there but brighter and more beautiful. Just when she was completely inthralled, she was brought back by Juliet who had come with her food.

Juliet hadn't noticed the flower because she seemed to be avoiding looking at the man. She sat down Evelyn's breakfast salad and shuffled off back into the kitchen.

Lux of course knew that Evelyn was staring at his little illusion. He stopped fiddling and simply stared hard at it. The small face of the flower contorted, blossoming a small nose, mouth and eyes. Promptly, the flower used its new features to blow a silent raspberry at Evelyn.

Footsteps, and the illusion died as Lux glanced up to recieve his coffee. He nodded and took the mug, his eyes leveled on the woman to see her reaction.

Evie had looked back at the flower as soon as the waitress left. She became more enthralled when it started changing. Her eyebrows joined her glasses high on her forehead when the flower gained a face and blew a raspberry at her. She heard footsteps of the waitress coming back and the flower and its face disappeared.

She quickly looked back at her magazine. However she continued to think about what she had seen. It puzzled her. It would most people but her puzzlement was an eager one not a scared or confused puzzlement an ordinary woman would have felt at if a sunflower made of light had blown a raspberry at her.

She wouldn't have noticed if her magazine were upside down, and she wasn't even self conscious enough to remember that the waitress had taken her cover menu. She had even forgotten that she had her breakfast in front of her.

A half-smile slid across Lux's expression and was gone. OK, so she wouldn't come out. Let's see what else he could do...

Slowly a faintly visible halo circled itself above Evelyn's head. There was a gasp, and Lux turned in time to see Juliet drop the tray of dishes she'd been taking back to the kitchen. Blushing, the waitress hurriedly picked it up again and dashed out of the room, as if afraid to stay in there any longer.

Evie looked up from her upside down magazine when the waitress dropped some dishes and there was a crash. She wondered what had made her do it. Evelyn glanced over at the man. The whole time something at the top of her vision was bothering her. Finally she tilted her perfect chin upward just a tad. A ring of light was above her head. She gasped looked at the man and buried her face in her magazine. Now she definitely couldn't read it seeing as her nose was touching the page.

Teasing Evelyn was really beginning to amuse Lux. When the halo still didn't bring her of her shell, he leaned back with a smile as he formed his next illusion; stars. Tiny pinpricks of light began to dance before Evelyn's eyes.

Evelyn shook her head and glanced over her magazine to Lux. Then she quickly stuffed the magazine in her purse and reached up and slid her shades back over her eyes. By now her motions were less irritated and more graceful like her norm. She picked up her fork and started to eat her salad. Doing her best to ignore the stars displaying themselves in front of her eyes.

Downing the rest of his coffee, Lux decided he'd had enough fun. He had other things to do besides playing the illusion game with a random, but admittedly attractive, young woman, "Check please," he said as Juliet passed.

Standing up, he left his change on the table, and with one hand in his pocket, the other tossing car keys absently, he strolled out.

Evelyn's eyes followed Lux as he walked out of the cafe. All the illusions had gone and when the door closed behind him the room seemed very dark. Despite her relief she also felt loss. It had been her first magical experience and it thrilled her. However she hoped she wouldn't see that man, or whatever he was again.

After she had finished with her salad she paid her check. Slinging her purse onto her shoulder she walked in grace to the door and hailed a taxi outside ready to visit her new apartment.

Eva and Bryce Bluddswirth entered the small cafe together. Eva's pink gaze took in the scene at a glance and she sniffed disdainfully, not liking the homely look of the place.

-He was here, brother, I'm sure of it.- She sent in thought to Bryce. -But he left a short time ago-

Bryce looked around the room, sending a reply to his sister, -What's your plan, then?-

-First we leave- And she turned right around, exiting the cafe more quickly than she had entered, Bryce following her with a sigh.

((Lols, I love these characters....))
