Topic: Michael's Apartment

Michael entered his home, 676 5th street, apartment 27, and walked to the coat closet. "A productive day," he thought to himself as he hung his jacket. He glanced at a clock on the wall and figured that he should head to sleep soon. But first, he decided to take a shower.

The larger part of his apartment was his all-purpose room--it had just a couch, a cheap coffee table, a single bed, one side-table, a cabinet, an old television, and a closet. His kitchen/dining room was nothing to remark of either; it had an oven, a microwave, a toaster, and a fridge, but no dishwasher. Michael did not mind washing by hand, since he lived alone at the time.

He walked into the all-purpose room while taking off his necklace and watch, and placed them on his bed's side-table. He undressed and went to the bathroom for a short shower, then went to bed.

At around seven-thirty, Michael awoke and stretched his arms. He slowly pulled himself out of bed and walked to the kitchen. When he got there, he poured himself some cereal and milk ((Michael eats his Wheaties!)) and slowly munched, pausing every now and then to sip from a glass of orange juice.

As he ate, his phone rang. He leaned over and pulled it off the wall. "Hello?" he said into the mouthpiece. He wondered who would call him--not many knew his number other than Jacob and Kaelin...

A heavily distorted voice came over the phone."I would have use of your service and I'm willing to pay very well."

"Is that truly how you feel? Most likely it is so I will answer your second question, it isn't hard to pin someone down with the right people. Now as I said before I have need of services you can render. I will also say agian that I will pay you very well for your services."

Michael paused. He wished he could use telepathy over phone lines. "Fine, I'll listen, but I make no promises until I hear it all."

"A fairly short time ago a group of my men were going after a known criminal, but when they moved in, they were confronted by something that you are skilled in disposing of. If you kill it I pay you upwards of several thousand dollars."

Michael thought for a moment before responding. "I would like to meet you in person before we discuss this further."

"That will not be possible, but I will send an associate with the all information needed to where ever you want to meet."

Michael thought for a moment, deciding where he should meet with them. "...The Sunshine Cafe, in one hour. No weapons. You buy lunch."

"All right." Michael hung up the phone.

After dressing, he exited the apartment and locked the door. He walked down the staircase and to the street, where he called over a taxi, entered, and ordered the driver to head to the Sunshine Cafe.

Michael reentered his home and hung up his jacket, sure to take out the money first. He went over to his bed, pulled out a safe-briefcase, and put in the money. He retrieved his revolver and began its weekly maintanance check as he waited for Kaelin.

Kaelin arrived and knocked at Michael's door. It had taken her longer then she expected to find his apartment before she'd lost patience and used a GPS lock.

Michael put down the disassembled weapon and went over to the door. He opened it and saw Kaelin. "Good to see you. Come in." He stepped aside for Kaelin to enter.

Kaelin stepped into the small apartment, briefly looking around at the simple furnishings.

Michael closed the door behind Kaelin and started for the kitchen. "Follow me. I have to tell you a few things about what we'll be doing today."

((Now that I think of it...how is Michael supposed to find Slythris?))

Kaelin nodded and followed Michael.

((well Kaelin has some uber computer skills, and there's the doctor who was there when the whole thing happened. Slythris has a lot of connections, you'll have to sniff them out.))

Michael sat down by the table and motioned to the opposite seat before continuing his work on the weapon. "I spoke with someone today. They need something dead, and it happens to be a demon."

Kaelin brightened up considerably, now they wouldn't have to fish for leads.

"Great, what do you know about it?"

"It helped an ex-criminal a short while ago." He reached into his pocket and retrieved the photograph. "Here's a picture. I'd guess it's a manipulator; in other words, it prefers to sabotage mentally and emotionally rather than to physically destroy or tempt others to do its bidding."

Kaelin looked at the picture. It looked like a normal boy, except for the eyes, and the skin colors.

"Right, so how do we catch it?"

"He was at a doctor's office earlier. I suggest we go there and ask the owner what transpired. Did you bring your weapon?"

She couldn't keep a smile off her lips. She had a job now, and maybe she'd have some money soon. Maybe this doctor would have a surveillance system she could hack into.

By now, Michael had finished reassmebling his weapon. He holstered it, stood and said, "Let's go. I'll tell you more on the way."

Michael walked out the door, grabbing his sword on the way out and strapping it onto his belt underneath his cloak.
