Danielle ThamasaTopic: ScriptFrenzy '09
Just thought I would see if anyone is participating in the Frenzy this year. I'm going to try again after an abysmal try last year...I only wrote 12 pages on the first day and that was it. If I had kept going I could have been finished with my 100 pages before April 10th hit. Anyway, for those who don't know ScriptFrenzy is NaNoWriMo's sister challenge. Instead of a word count for a novel you are going for a page count on a script. It doesn't matter if you write a movie script, a TV series, a play, whatever. Oh, and an added bonus that you don't have with NaNo...you can write with a partner. And if you write with a partner you're page count is still 100 pages between the two of you. Sounds fun right? So, is anyone joining me on the Frenzy starting April 1st? |

Danielle ThamasaFor NaNoWriMo the work needs to be original. However, for ScriptFrenzy, you can use a TV show, etc. that is not of your own creation. To write a script for another show is to write a spec...I think that's what it's called anyway. Sometimes if you want to be hired on to work for a TV show as a writer then they will have you write a spec script, one based off of all the characters in the show but the storyline is of your own creation. |

Kerrigan SheehanYou can also do an adaptation for Screnzy. I did this. I didn't get a quarter of the way through the book, but I made 100 pages. I could've been done on November 3rd if I had kept up my first day pace, but I thought the last 10 days of the month would be spent without being able to contact my boyfriend (who is 500 mi. away), so I saved it until I found out that wasn't going to happen. |
