hey, If anyone has a Supernatural story This is For You...

Hey! So I Hope people have heard about the FictionPress Supernatural Stories Awards 2008, but if you haven't, This is for You! The Supernatural Stories Awards was created May 31, 2008.

There are 19 Award Catagories.

Completed Story Catagories:

Best Romance, Best Humor, Most Original, Best Cliche, Best Plot* Best Horror, Best Angst, and Best Poem.

* Most thought out plot, no plot holes, everything is linked together and explained.

Incompleted Story Catagories**:

** By the time nominations have ended all incomplete stories must have at least five chapters or 5000 words (words per chapter vary with different people).

Best Romance, Best Humor, Most Original, Best Cliche, Best Plot *, Best Horror, and Best Angst.

* Most thought out plot, no plot holes, everything is linked together and explained.

Other:

Best Couple, Most Believable Dialogue, Most Prolific Author, Best New Author, and Best One Shot.

The Rules:

Nominated stories must:

-Have "Supernatural" as one of the genres. Preferably the main category, but if it's not in that section on FP then the story must still have supernatural events in the story. If it's one of the sub-genres but is important in the story then it'll be accepted.

-Have no spelling mistakes

-Constant tenses (Don't switch from past to present and back.)

-Constant POV (If you change POV then change chapter.)

-Correct punctuation (Commas, dialogue quotes etc)

-Good plot (Has to be going somewhere, doesn't need to be perfect, unless it's being nominated for the Best Plot category. But it must be planned at least a little.)

-Capitals (Capitalize the "I"s and the first letters of the first words in a sentence. Obvious but some people don't do this.)

-No text talk (Unless it's an actual text message.)

This is all very basic things that should always be done. You don't want your readers' eyes to be hurting (some people, like me, are sensitive to mistakes. It's very annoying to read a story where the first sentence of the first chapter has a mistake. Not a good first impression).

The good plot makes the story enjoyable to read. If you don't have a plot then the rest doesn't matter. All the other specifications can be done just by editing. You need a plot. That can't be changed half-way through a story. The rest can.

Then of course you need good dialogue (has to be natural and flow well), realistic characters (flaws, goals, ups and downs, consistency - again with the "constant" thing! Well it's important).

I suppose I don't even need to say that the story has to be:

-on Fiction Press (see the title of the awards!)

-Titled

-And a summary should be included (not just "Please R&R" or "I can't do summaries, read to see." or, the worst, "I promise, it's really good!")

If You Would Like to Nominate a Story, Your own or someone else's, you should send a link to the story and include the category it is being nominated for. All Nominations should be sent in either a FictionPress PM, or E-mail to ClumsyBella15 C/O: or http://www.fictionpress.com/u/615915/ . Those are the Official E-mail and Fiction Press accounts. You may nominate stories until 31st July. After that the Voting Period will be... 5th August until 31st August. The Winners will then be announced the 31st September. The reason the winners are announced a onth later being that we will need time to get the votes counted, and prizes orginized.

We Would Like to Thank Everyone who nominates a Story, and Also thank everyone who has read this. The Staff at The Fiction Press Supernatural Stories Awards 2008- Kayleigh (ClumsyBella15), Essie (EssieBear), Jackie (Artificial Destiny), Rosaleen (BornButterfly), Alice (SkiBird17), Maxime ( Angelstar5), Leena, and Megan (VelvetxKisses)

You can Contact All Staff members Through our FictionPress accounts (in parenthesis)

This is a really cool idea. I know that the SKOW's are real popular so I hope that your FictionPress Supernatural Stories Awards become just as popular. I have a few supernatural stories but I don't know if any would qualify. But good luck with this.

here's the link to my supernatural/romance story that does not involve vampires :}

http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2601475/1/Flight_On_His_Back

i was kind of getting sick of everyone using the vampire theme since twilight became a big hit so i twisted it around to another supernatural creature :}

summary to get you started:

The story is about a supernatural human, Beo who falls in love with your everyday average shy teenager, Anna. Supposedly his blood is dragon but his form is human. Anna's past generation, in 1692, she lived her life as Lianna who burned at the stake for being accused of witchcraft. Beo mourned for her for over 300 years until in 2008, he meets her again in Shirley, MA.

At first, all he wants to do is watch over her like her guardian angel. He's scared to lose her again.

His darksided brother, Sin comes to Shirley, MA and sees her too, remembering how much he loved her back in 1692 when she fell in love with his brother. Bloods boil as he seeks bloodthirsty revenge against Beo. When Sin discovers Beo's hidden secret of unlimited love for Anna, he decides to use her as bait. The only problem is, he falls in love with her too..

Snow Wolf Alpha

I knew a werewolf/ Egyptian story named 'Cytopolis' (probably not spelt right). Unfortunately it's been deleted I think. Did anybody read it? Do you know the name of it's author?

Do you have a story, or know of a story that deserves recognition? Then you should check out the FPSSA forum. The FictionPress Supernatural Stories Awards is starting its second season this Friday. We’re still looking for judges for several categories, and have a variety of alternate positions open if judging isn’t for you. But mostly, we’re just looking for people to nominate stories. People like, well, people like you!

It’s a great way to get your, or another author’s story known. And there are prizes. There are the usually banners for the winners, but whoever wins the “judges pick” category also gets a video made for their story.

Even if you don’t have a story to nominate, stop by, because it’s a great way to find good stories without having to sift through the “Just In” page.

Here are the links to the two important sites you should have on your shortcuts list:

FPSSA Homepage- here you can check out past winners and keep updated on what’s going on right now. http://fpsupernaturalawards.webs.com/

FPSSA Main Forum- here is where you nominate stories, find rules and FAQs, and check what stories have been read/judged, you can also just stop to chat with the judges http://www.fictionpress.com/forum/The_Fiction_Press_Supernatural_Stories_Awards_2008/2539/

Also, please check out my story Lupus. It's just getting started, and is on a semi hold because I'm working out some business publishing deals plus FanFiction.Net, but it is immersive, and will feature much of the Supernatural plus my own things added in. You'll love it, but once you put down the alert you may not hear from it for a while. But it will be good once it gets rolling, I promise!

Demented Hellion

I have a story that I think I accidently put into the fantasy story. But it's called A Demon's World and is pretty cool I think. It was originally four chapters but I combined chapters because of length and flow; so now it's only two.

It's about demons that weren't created by Lucifer after his fall and the war that they fight against the vampires. The vampires were created by Lucifer to bring the demons into submission although they broke from Lucifer and created their own society instead of being mindless soldiers for him. Not only do the demons fight against the vampires but they also fight against Lucifer and his army of Nephilim.

The story actually centers around two demon sisters, Kenley and Aislinn. Kenley is in line to be the next ruler of the Demon Kingdom and Aislinn is in line to be the next Oracle. It shows what they go through being half sisters and having a mother who is the Demonic Oracle and comepletely insane. It also shows the vampire's side and follows a vampire named Angelica who has a hunger for power that causes her to stop at nothing to be placed on the Council of Nosferatu.

I hope that ya'll like it. I think it may be one of those stories that a hit or miss, may not be everyone's cup of tea because of preconceived notions regarding Lucifer and demons. I just wanted to provide a different prospective on demons.

Hmm...I'm not very into vampires but I love demons...so I may check it out.

My story Lupus is pretty much about a hunter who holds a lifelong grudge against all supernaturals for the death of his family, but things change when he is forcibly turned into a werewolf and has to settle the struggle within him as well as a mission woven in to the mystery of exactly who changed him. It has a lot more deppth to it, as it is very expansive, but that's the main jist of it.

i'm starting a supernatural story where the magic world is separate from the human world. the magic world will contain all types of supernatural/fantasy/magical beings/creatures and stuff like that. its called A Step Into Darkness and is basically about how two seemingly normal humans get thrown into this whole other world by this cursed fella with really bad luck and they have to work together to try and stop The Supremacy from trying to take over everyone and everything - humans included. it's kind of a slow starting series but i'm telling it from two different persepectives - one from the characters mentioned previously and one from someone with much different motives, so hopefully that will keep it interesting. i would love it if anyone would be willing to read and review it for me - even if you just post that you read it would be of great help. and please give your honest opinion of it. heres the link to the first chapter: http://www.fictionpress.com/secure/story/story_preview.php?storyid=2689488

thanks for the time

I have a great story called The Coupling of Werewolves. After the death of her father Noelle Salinger is forced to leave her Chicago home and family. A train accident starts a chain of events that brings the realization that her family isn't what she thought she isn't what she thought either. Werewolves? http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2780909/1/The_Coupling_of_Werewolves Please check it out and let me know what you think.

see i've been debating whether i should classify my new story as supernatural or not. The main characters aren't easily classified as a supernatural being like a vampire or werewolf. They have the ability to help people pass on once they've died and are called either coffin, fire, or air kissers depending on the form of death they deal with and then the closers are similar to them. But ya i think the story could be interesting depending on how you view it.
