Fractured IllusionAs long as FP allows it, the RGs allow it. M-ratings is no problem. |
Lime-CatFirst off, sorry for my absence...secondly, I wrote the news post about Reggy Awards. Is it OK? (I'm not good with news posts.....is I lacking any crucial info in news post? o_O) |
Fractured IllusionIt's awesome. Welcome back! |
gigglebugSo some noob wants to withdraw in WCC. Isn't it too late for that? o_O |
Fractured IllusionYep. I Pm'ed the person and explained that, but I could take them out the poll if they wanted to. |
gigglebugAh, okay. Thanks. |
Fractured Illusion@Freebie 1st post update Sheriff spent like 2 hours digging up the old freebie about exciting freebies for my sake, so I linked to it in hte first freebie post in case someone ever wanted to make a freebie but couldnt think of a g ood idea, and that freebie had tons of good ideas. Will remove if other mods disagree with decision. |
simpleplan13I think that's a good idea. |
Lime-CatIt'd be a shame if we didn't put all of Sheriff's 2 hours of hard work towards nothing. :P Great idea too. ^^ Lime is in agreement as well. |

George DoctanianWhy is FictionPress looked down upon? I mean Fanfiction has all these features (like one where you can check your pm messages from your Fanfiction account rather then your email) and FictionPress doesn't get any love. The beta reader button doesn't work, you can't use the search feature, and the last major update they made on the site was in March. I'm sick and tired of it. I've sent countless complaints but still nothing gets done. Ideas? |
Nicki BluIscuz FP is FF's ugly stepsister no really it is. |
Fractured IllusionYou have to be really specific about what the problems are and when they happen when you email them. But yeah, FP is also the ugly stepsister... :( |

Vic TaylorI've got a review that I'm pretty sure doesn't adhear to the rules. It was part of the Poems - Easy Fix forum. This review was posted by Embrace his lips: "I’m so close to cracking Never to be fixed" I like that line, Ive felt like that times before. Overall I thought this was a good poem. "Blood red And yet… so light Not pink though" I didnt really like this line very much, dont know why. EDIT: And it was for chapter 39 of my story "Three Small Dots". | #2363 Oct 19th, 1:52pm . Edited Oct 19th, 1:54pm
Chasing SkylinesYes, that poem has three dis/likes (quoted line, poem, second quoted line), but only one why (relateable). However... you used a story (it's in the Fiction category) in Poems - EF, and from what I'm seeing, it couldn't pass as poetic prose. Basically, it doesn't matter that the review didn't count, 'cause your post doesn't. Sorry. |
Chasing SkylinesNonetheless, you gave a review, so what would you like reviewed (that's a poem) instead? Edit: I have posted to prevent someone accidentally committing a Rule 10, but will edit in your answer. | #2365 Oct 19th, 2:05pm . Edited Oct 19th, 2:08pm
Vic TaylorThis is a link to chapter 39 of "Three Small Dots", which is a poem: http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2716456/39/Three_Small_Dots "Three Small Dots" contains both poems and one shot stories. It started out just as one shots, which is why it is listed in Fiction, but all you need to do is look at chapter 39 and you'll see that it is obviously a poem. Whether this can be allowed in both the Poems - Easy Fix and Stories - Easy Fix has already been discussed, and it is allowed. Therefore, the review did not count, my post did and I think I deserve a proper review. |
Chasing SkylinesMy bad. I was misled by the category. |
Vic TaylorNo probs. You haven't been the only one. ;) |
simpleplan13Question, is a writing contest a resource for writing? |
simpleplan13For the RM does saying Review Game link's in the profile count or no it has to say RM? EDIT: Because the person is not in contention for first, second, or third place and there are so few reviews this RM I have decided to count it. | #2370 Oct 20th, 5:29pm . Edited Oct 21st, 9:54am

Nicki BluIsPosts 105 - 111 by the looks of it Heart Lace was up for reveiw; Anaism requested a review without a reviewing Heart Lace; Kit Kat Punk Lover reviewed Anaism and the RG progressed. So Heart lace got skipped and Anaism didnt earn their review. I would guess that Anaism owes Heart-Lace? I'm gonna go consult the rules and/or wait for a mod. | #2371 Oct 24th, 2:25pm . Edited Oct 24th, 2:30pm
Lime-Cat@Bubbles Yes. Anaism owes HeartLace a review. In the event that HeartLace doesn't get the review from Anaism, I'm going to have Kit-Kat Punk-lover review HeartLace for causing the mixup. To me, it seems fair. If other mods object, I'll shut up. *is in a bad mood atm* Making teh post and PMing ppl....Thanks for bringing it up, Bubbles. *slinks off* |

Lime-CatStories Depth In another note, 3 days ago, I made this post. The deadline has passed (to pay back an owed review). Do I issue a temp ban or forget it? EDIT: In a bad mood (as mentioned earlier), plus I'm dead tired, so yea...very low tolerance right about now. *sigh* | #2373 Oct 24th, 10:05pm . Edited Oct 24th, 10:06pm

SoneAnna@Stories Depth Just in case someone brings this up. There seemed to be a Rule 10 situation with my story "In Blue" in stories depth, though the first person to review it, Sweet Irony, didn't really give a "depth" review, only two sentences. The second person to review, Zara Finch, did seem valid. So I dunno what way we should bring this about...? EDIT: Reviews link: http://www.fictionpress.com/r/2734098/ | #2374 Oct 27th, 2:26pm . Edited Oct 27th, 2:29pm
Chasing SkylinesSweet Irony's post can be ignored. |
Vic TaylorAs Sweet Irony didn't give an in depth review, her/his post is invalid. As Zara Finch did give a proper in depth review, that's who's up next. |
SoneAnnaAkai then. Thanks. :P |
simpleplan13I made a new poll for the RM a bit ago, but it's not there when I go to embed the poll. Any ideas? |
Fractured IllusionProblem: The people participating in WCC seem almost completely incapable of giving a review before the deadline. I believe this might be caused by me not PMing them anymore to remind them the deadline is coming up. However, I still don't reckon I have that time on my hands to go back to doing that, and I don't think I should have to. A solution would be to find a service that emails you in the future. I remember seeing one of those. Anyone know what I'm talking about? You can set a date and write an email, and the service will you send you that message when the date comes. So people could alert themselves, saying "Don't forget WCC this month", ya see? Through email? Anyone? I forgot the link though... Other ideas are welcome too. Cuz this is getting annoying. |
gigglebugFrom what I've seen, there are plenty of email remind systems that you could sign up for, etc. However, it seems that the only way for it to remind you is if you yourself put it in there. I'm not sure if other people will remember to even set a reminder...? I don't know. It's feasible. |
simpleplan13I say it's not your problem. People can put it in their cell phones in their calendars or whatever... Maybe say though I will not be reminding you please make a note of it somewhere to remind yourself. Also, any idea about my poll issue? It's getting close to November... |
Fractured IllusionMaybe say though I will not be reminding you please make a note of it somewhere to remind yourself. I already did that. Or do you mean I should do that for all months henceforth? @Poll a) try again? or b) try in another topic If both fail, I guess you have to do a poll through posts - people have to post to vote. |
Sarah WatsonHi. I'm just wondering if I can edit a published story, like if I misspelled something and then I published it how can I change it? Or delete it?? |
Fractured Illusion@Sarah Step 1: Have the edited version in Document Manager. Step 2-5: Go to: Publish - My stories - edit - Content/Chapters - Replace chapter X with Selected Document (at the bottom of the page there). No need to delete your story. In fact, it's only annoying when people do. |
simpleplan13I meant to make that part of the post all the time. I tried deleting the poll, but I'm gonna try deleting it and making it again... EDIT: It worked! I took out the 6th to 8th, though since it's so late. Also, I was wondering, could we make a link to the 2008 review list? Just to shorten the first post? | #2385 Nov 02nd, 5:24pm . Edited Nov 02nd, 5:26pm
Fractured IllusionAlso, I was wondering, could we make a link to the 2008 review list? I dont mind at all. Update: I removed the polls and closed the OTs that I had for Reggy Awards. I figured there is no interest left in keeping them there. |

E.S. LundgrenStories Depth Post #1604 Kristin Teabag review for my story Vampire and The Romantics, Chapter One Review: Hmm, good story you got hear. I thought the dialogue was very well written--it flowed nicely, without seeming cliche or lame. You also had a nice hook. My only compliant would be to avoid info-dumping. Though the info-dump in this chapter was relatively small--3-4 paragraphs, I think found it turning me off as a reader, especially since it was in the very beginning. Eh, I wasn't sure what this was for but then I realized it was for my requested depth review...I don't think it meets the depth requirements, I feel bad bringing it up but I really did kind of want an in-depth review....this seems more like easy-fix... | #2387 Nov 08th, 1:49pm . simpleplan13Don't feel bad for bringing it up. If you give a depth review, you should get one in return.... Here's what I see, but I'll wait for another mod before final ruling because I don't do stories so well... Hmm, good story you got hear. (general) I thought the dialogue was very well written--it flowed nicely, without seeming cliche or lame. (Dialouge-2 sentences; the first part and second part could each be a sentence) You also had a nice hook. (writing?-1 sentence) My only compliant would be to avoid info-dumping. Though the info-dump in this chapter was relatively small--3-4 paragraphs, I think found it turning me off as a reader, especially since it was in the very beginning. (other-3 sentences) |

E.S. LundgrenMeh, hello again :S @ Story Depth Something weird is going on right now, working somewhat in my favor, but I'm just kind of bringing it up. So I got two reviews because Johnathan Lawless requested my story get reviewed again because he really liked it, which was all good over here though perhaps not legal, haha, and then it was reviewed again by Laila Amira, who is new on the site, and I really don't mind her review or anything, but I think she kind of mis-stepped in the "depth review requirements". I obviously don't mind because I got my review anyway, but I don't want to step up and say "you reviewed me wrong". Then again, I think someone should step up and tell her to check the review requirements again. Anyway, I could be wrong, so here's the correct information to asses the review: Story-In Depth Post #1623 Laila Amira review for my story I Never Said I Was Brave, Chapter One Review: Wow. I'm really enjoying this so far. The beginning was a bit choppy, and there are a few punctuation errors here and there, but overall this is an excellent story. Aside from the aforementioned choppiness, the beginning was great. Exciting, suspenseful, made me want to keep reading! The descriptions are wonderfully vivid and detailed, and the dialogue is...great. Can't think of any other way to describe it. Looking forward to more! -- I just feel too bad to say anything because I already got my review :( Please Help! |
DeeFective@E.S: If it was in the depth thread then her review doesn't count because it doesn't meet the requirements. Good for you, too bad for her. |
simpleplan13First, it is perfectly legal to request some one else's piece be reviewed. Also, if a newbie gives you a review that doesn't fulfill the requirements, make an OT post. However, they do not owe you a whole new review. They just have to fill in the parts that were missing (see my post in depth). |
E.S. LundgrenFor Stories--Easy Fix A moderator or someone else is needed over there, I've got a problem I'm not sure how to fix. There is a new member, NocturnalNerd, who ended up reviewing the wrong person and then received a review, which I believe means they owe the person they skipped over? I'm trying to handle it but I'm not positive if I handled it accordingly. Any mod who would take the time to look at it would be excellent. It occurs around Post #199 and on from there. Thanks! |
simpleplan13I looked at it an I'm not sure. Either A. the person they reviewed owes the person who got skipped a review (because they got an extra review out of the mess up) or B. the person who reviewed them just doesn't count. They should've checked to make sure that NocturnalNerd reviewed the right person and the person who was skipped should be up. I'm gonna make the person who got skipped up next. This way if the person who reviewed NocturnalNerd's review doesn't count tehre is no more drama and if it does count than the person NocturnalNerd reviewed can review the person who reviewed NocturnalNerd | #2393 Nov 25th, 12:13pm . Sercus Kaynine@Easy Fix There seems to be a mix-up between posts 219-230. A newbie wasn't following the rules and was ignored, but in the mix-up there was a Rule 10 situation with FictionA, but the contender was thought to be another mistaken newbie and ignored, so FictionA was not reviewed. Help? |
simpleplan13As far as I can tell all the Rule 10s were caught and posted. |
Sercus KaynineAs far as I can tell all the Rule 10s were caught and posted. I don't believe FictionA ever got their review from Kagonnutsuki (sp?). Other than that, though, people seem to have dealt with the confusion rather well. XD |
simpleplan13I think they have a week to do the review or it may be 3 days... Frac would know. But if they don't get the review they can post here after the allotted time period and the person will be banned until they do the review. |
Fractured IllusionWas one week, if I remember right. 3 days are for them Beta and Artist thingums right? |
gigglebug3 days are for them Beta and Artist thingums right? yep. also, to clarify. how do themes work in WCC? |
Zak CrimsonleafNot to interrupt the discussion, but I was thinking of making a request in the Beta Reader thread, but the last request was never officially closed, even though it's been more than three days. Am I still okay to do that, or should I wait? Also, I wanted to try doing a depth review and from the discussion here it looks like the problem about that has been resolved, but I just wanted to be sure. |
