I never read Tess but I did somewhat like another novel of Hardy's, Far From the Madding Crowd.

I do prefer Dickens, though, obviously.

I had this weird moment in the grocery store when all directions were suddenly the same. Like left was in all directions and all directions were left. It was really disorienting. I came out of it sitting on the floor with everyone nearby staring at me like I'm crazy. Which I am, but that's not the point.
