Fractured IllusionTopic: Writing Challenge Contest
This is the place to go for monthly writing challenges that are also a contest. A depth review is given to the winner, but everyone contributes with a piece of writing. Poems and stories are welcome. Anyone can participate. Except if you have won two times in a row, you are not allowed to win the third, but you are allowed to participate. This happens during the same time-frame every month, see under the headline Time Frame for more info. --- CURRENTLY: NOVEMBER WCC IS LOOKING FOR A WINNER --- Moving on, this is the basic structure of Writing Challenge Contest: Person 1: The prompt for this month is "Scarves are dangerous". Register and enter your piece. Person 2: Registering for WCC. I will of course review the winner. Edit: Link to my story, Wife. Person 3: I register I promise to review the winner.. Edit: Link for the poem, Red Dye Person 1: Registrations and submissions are CLOSED. Time to vote in the poll! Person 1: Okay, the story "Wife" won! Person 2, what would you like to be the prompt for next month? Please PM the prompt to the moderators. Person 1: CONTEST IS OVER As you can see, every participant writes their own one-shot or poem. You may make it a multi-chap later on, but as long as the contest is open it needs to stay a one-shot or it will be disqualified. Contests: They are opened by a moderator. Polls are created by a moderator. Prompts are however from the winner of the previous round (with the exception of the first contest). Story/Poetry Requirements: Your piece must be inspired by the prompt. A connection must be there, no matter how loose. The prompts are aimed to inspire, not control thought. The piece cannot be a sequel or anything of that effect either. This means you have to start from scratch when you make the story/poem. You can't reuse characters or plot, for example, from other works of yours. Poems aren't allowed to go over 500 words. One-shots aren't allowed to go over 2000 words. You are allowed to only contribute one piece per contest. Mention in your author note that this is for the Writing Challenge Contest the Review Game has. Or if not in the author note, in the summary. Your choice. Naturally, it must be a new piece and can't be posted before registration starts. Time Frames: The 1st the prompt is given. Also, the 1st to the 7th every month is the registration and submission period (this is one week). The 8th to the 14th we vote (this is one week). 15th a winner is declared. Then participants have until the 28th to give a depth review to that person (this is two weeks). If there is a tie and thus a winner is declared later, participants will still be allowed a two week time frame to review. The winner must have given their prompt for next contest by the latest the 28th, or a mod will decide on one. Registration: In your registration post, state that you wish to participate and that you will review the winner. When you have finished your piece, edit the link into the post. Also say what you would like to have reviewed, should you win. (It is important to note that while you give your preference on what you want reviewed, no one is obliged to review that/those pieces. But that way the participants will know what you seek their opinion on the most). Anyone can register, even the prompt giver. You can withdraw your registration up until the 8th. Then, even if you have not contributed a piece, you must still review the winner. Winning: Prize: The winner gets to choose the prompt for next month's contest. Also, all other participants give that person a depth review. There is only one winner per contest. The winner is decided through a poll, which will be made when registration period is over. In the case of a tie, a new poll will solve it. This poll will have the duration of two days. If the winner does not give a prompt before the 28th, a mod will decide on one. The prompt must not tell the direction of a story. Consult a moderator in Problems/Questions if you are uncertain. You can only win two times in a row, then you are automatically disqualified from winning in the third round. Obligations: Those who did not win, but likewise are registered participants, must - review the winner with a depth review - PM Fractured Illusion the title of the piece they reviewed - do both of these before the set deadline Voting: Anyone can vote, participants and non-participants alike. Everyone is allowed two votes max. Review Requirements There are minimum standards to how the review given to the winner must be. If you review a story from the winner, look here for review requirements (the first post only). If you review a poem from the winner, look here for review requirements (the first post only). These mentioned minimums must be fulfilled or else you will have to give another, and another, until you get it right. So pay attention the first time. If you have not given a legit review before the 28th, you will be banned from the forum. However, you will be let back in as soon as you give the review in accordance to the review requirements. When you have given the review, PM simpleplan13 (the other mod) and notify her of this, so the ban can be lifted. What Types of Prompts Are Allowed? Nothing over PG-13 and nothing offensive like swastika or something with similar effect. The types of prompts we allow are: Lines/Quotes Themes Pictures | #1 Dec 28th 2008, 6:11am . Fractured IllusionWRITING CHALLENGE CONTEST JANUARY Welcome to our first round of this contest! I hope everyone's as psyched as I am! - Prompt: "How did we end up this way?" - Remember, even though there must be a connection between your submitted piece and the prompt, you need not make "obvious" connections. The prompt is meant to inspire. Registrations and submissions have now started! Edit in the link to your piece in your registration post once it has been created. You can register and submit your work until the end of the 7th of January. Remember, one piece per person! We accept both poetry and stories. If you have any questions, ask at Problems/Questions. If you find bumps on your way, you can go to Help with your writing and get help there. Good luck everyone! And Happy New Year! | #3 Jan 01st, 12:01am . Edited Feb 01st, 6:52am

Fractured IllusionRegistrations and submissions are no longer accepted. That part of WCC is now CLOSED. Everyone who did not withdraw from the contest is considered a participant. I will create the poll shortly. |
Fractured IllusionTHE POLL IS HERE! Huzzah! I want to thank EVERYONE that's participating! This first round of WCC has been a major success, which I did not see coming at all! So thank you! Second. Before voting in this poll, make sure you have read all entries. I cannot stress this enough. Some have been submitted these last few days, so double check. I am sure neither of you would appreciate your story not being read, and thus missing out a chance to be voted on. It's all about good sportsmanship, folks. Third. I cannot control who votes. I cannot see who votes and for what. Non-participants of WCC, you are more than welcome to vote. I encourage you all to (but read all entries before voting, please). Fourth. Yes, you can vote for your own piece, since I cannot control otherwise. - The poll will be kept til the 14th. - Total participants this month: 28 Total submissions: 25 |
Fractured IllusionVoting In case there is any confusion: you are allowed to vote until the end of today (the 14th). I close the poll on the 15th and the winner will be declared. |
Fractured IllusionAND THE WINNER OF WCC JANUARY IS... DeeFective! With her piece "Infinity"! Congratulations! :D Now, to remind everyone: ALL participants have two weeks to review DeeFective with a depth review. Everyone but SeasideDreams (who withdrew their registration) is a participant. So basically: Everyone but him will review DeeFective. You can review whatever you choose from the winner. Not just the winning piece. The review must be delivered til the 28th. If you think you have any trouble delivering it by that time, please tell us here. You are bound by depth review requirement. These are your minimum to fulfill. If you have ANY questions regarding depth review requirements, please ask here. Since DeeFective have both stories and poems, I will copy and paste both. To the winner: Please give a moderator the prompt for WCC February before the 28th. Do this through PM. - - For review requirements please look at the first post. - - (I will make another post soon that contains the score and somesuch) | #39 Jan 15th, 2:00am . Edited Jan 28th, 4:19pm

Fractured IllusionWinner: DeeFective - I just wish to remind everyone: you are fully allowed to review more than one piece of the winner, and you are also allowed to review other participants. The MINIMUM however is to review DeeFective with one depth review. You have til the 28th to review the winner, as previously stated. - Participants that I expect to review the winner: Carus - DONE karma-dollie - DONE Fractured Illusion - DONE vinny2 - DONE Xu.xDripdrop - DONE Kyllorac - DONE ForeverxDreaming - DONE The Catnapper - DONE Kirrithian - DONE Mayo on toast - DONE cbei02 - DONE concerto49 - DONE Royal Bliss - DONE Misty Elizabeth - DONE dances.with.sunflowers. - DONE Amarone. - DONE Nicki BluIs - DONE Munch Magic - TEMPORARILY BANNED Silv3rDr34mS - DONE TuneOut - DONE firemounrain - TEMPORARILY BANNED fatbird33 - DONE dragonflydreamer - DONE Charactarantula - DONE daughterofmusic - DONE Tetue - TEMPORARILY BANNED simpleplan13 - DONE (when you review, I will check you off this list) To make sure your prize review ends up listed, please PM me when you have reviewed the winner, and state which piece you reviewed. What does "temporarily banned" mean? It means you have been banned for not giving the winner of this contest a depth review, or no review at all. You will stop being banned when you give that legit depth review. -- Total participants: 28 Total active participants: 24 Total amount of voters: 34 -- Score board: DeeFective: 6 votes Carus: 5 votes karma-dollie: 5 votes Fractured Illusion: 4 votes vinny2: 4 votes Xu.xDripdrop: 4 votes Kyllorac: 3 votes ForeverxDreaming: 3 votes The Catnapper: 3 votes Kirrithian: 2 votes Mayo on toast: 2 votes cbei02: 2 votes concerto49: 2 votes Royal Bliss: 2 votes Misty Elizabeth: 1 vote dances.with.sunflowers.:1 vote Amarone.: 1 vote Nicki BluIs: 1 vote Munch Magic: 1 vote Silv3rDr34mS: 1 vote TuneOut: 1 vote firemounrain: 1 vote fatbird33: 1 vote dragonflydreamer: 1 vote Charantula: [piece was disqualified. did not meet requirements] daughterofmusic: no piece Tetue: no piece simpleplan13: no piece -- THANK YOU, EVERYONE THAT PARTICIPATED AND/OR VOTED! CharactarantulaYou spelled my name wrong on the list. :( |
Fractured IllusionFixed! ...I hope :p |
Lime-Cat(when you review, I will tick you off this list) To make sure you end up ticked off, please PM me when you have reviewed the winner, and state which piece you reviewed. Haha. To be ticked off means you want us to get mad. So, do you really want us to be mad? If not, I'd change "tick you off" and "ticked off" to "check you off" and "checked off". ;) EDIT...also: The review must be delivered til the 28th. If you think you have any trouble delivering it by that time, please tell us here. Instead of "til the 28th", it might be better to be explicit and say, "You have until 12PM FP time of the 28th yada yada yada". :D Ok, Lime is done nitpicking at Frac's grammar. Fractured IllusionNEW RULE FOR FUTURE WCC CONTESTS: When you register in future WCC contests, you will from now on tell what you would prefer to have reviewed out of your pieces. I have added this under the Registration category. No one is obliged to follow that preference, but that way people will know what the winner seeks concrit on. (Exception of course is if you want someone else to get the reviews instead. That is mandatory to listen to) |
Fractured IllusionBecause people seem to be confused: Silv3rDr34mS is NOT a mod. Do not PM her that you have reviewed the winner. She cannot edit posts other than those she makes herself. Just look at the end of every page to see who is a mod, or better yet, look at the News topic to see who is an active mod. Yeah, it's not her job PMing me what you guys don't. So please let her be. |
