Lord Artair MacRae's house is always open to visitors, anyone with questions, or anyone who just wants to have a friendly conversation. Ealasaid MacKenzie-MacRae is almost always at home, usually with at least one of the three MacRae children.

Ealasaid entered the house and went straight over to where Caitlin stood stirring a pot of stew.

"Come ge' yerself a bowl." She told Maeve.

"Thank ye," Maeve said, following Ealasaid and grabbing a bowl.

"No' a problem." Ealasaid motioned to Cait, "This is mah daughter Caitlin."

Maeve looked down at Caitlin. "'ello Caitlin. I'm Maeve."

Caitlin smiled shyly up at Maeve, "'ello." She turned to her mother and looked at her imploringly. Ealasaid nodded and Caitlin practically flew out of the house.

"Go a'ead an' si' down." Ealasaid motioned to a chair, "Relax an' enjoy tha food."

Maeve smiled and sat down in the chair. Then she began to eat the stew, forcing herself to take her time and eat slow; it was the first real food she had had in a few days.

Ealasaid picked up a holey shirt and some thread and sat down at the table. "So, where are ye from?" She asked Maeve as she began to mend the shirt.

Maeve stopped eating and looked at Ealasaid. "Ireland, th' province of Ulster."

Ealasaid's eyebrows raised, "Really? All tha way from Ireland?"

"Aye," Maeve responded, taking her gaze off the woman.

"Jus' a need to get away, see someplace else," Maeve responded, looking down at her almost empty bowl.

Ealasaid nodded, "Ah see." She noticed Maeve's bowl and gestured with her head towards the stew pot. "Ye ken ge' yerself more if'n yer wantin' i'."

"Thank ye, but I prolly should see about livin' arrangements. Besides, eatin' too much after several days without food is ne'er a wise idea."

"There's always an empty room a' tha Inn down a' the south end of tha village." Ealasaid reminded her.

"I thank ye for yer hospitality, Ealasaid." Maeve stood up from her seat.

Ealasaid smiled, looking up from her mending, "Yer more than welcome, lass. Ah 'ope ye have a pleasant stay in tha village."

Maeve grabbed her staff, thanked Ealasaid one last time, and left the house.

Aoife wandered up to the house, curious but not wanting to intrude, she looked around for some sign of the owners presence.

"Ken Ah 'elp ye, lass?" A distinctly male voice asked from behind her.

Aoife squeaked and spun around, biting her lip as she looked at the man behind her,

"I'm jus' lookin' abou' if'n ye' don' min'." she offered meekly.

Kieran MacRae raised one black eyebrow, sizing up the girl before him, only without seeming to. "Ah donae min'." He replied, the slight hint of a smile on his face. He leaned against the house, arms crossed over his chest, "Le' me know if Ah ken 'elp ye a' all."

Aoife gave a shy smile and shrugged,

"Like I said, jus' lookin' roun'. Woul' ye' min' tellin me who lives 'ere?" she asked, looking back to the house.

Kieran nodded, sky-blue eyes twinkling, "Aye, Ah know who lives 'ere. Lord Artair MacRae, the village leader, an' 'is family."

She nodded- she'd been right after all.

"Aye, I suspecte' someone like tha'. I's a fair gran' 'ouse after all." she commented with a small smile.

Aoife looked to the stranger with slightly narrowed eyes,

"Wha' do ye' mean 'thank ye'?" she asked, tipping her head curiously.

Aoife gaped and flushed red before scowling,

Kieran couldn't help but laugh, it had taken the girl long enough. "Ah'm Kieran MacRae." He said, bowing his head slightly, "An' ye are?"

Aoife scowled a ittle to hide her embarrassment- obviously he lived here, why else would he be here,

"Aoife O'Connor."

"And ye', thank ye' Mr MacRae." she responded, tipping her head slightly and twisting her fingers together, her anger abaiting, leaving little more than her embarrassment. "Tha's very kin' o' you."

Aoife crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow,

"Do ye' really live 'ere?" she asked, glancing back at the house once more.

"Many woul' tell tales fer such a place as this. I ken mah brothers woul', fer certain." she explained with a grin, "I' is, like I sai', a gran' place."

Aoife looked back to him,

"Ye'r whole life?" she repeated, "Do ye' no' wan' ta go see other things?" she asked, curious, "Other places?"

He shrugged and was about to reply when he heard someone call his name. Looking over he saw Ealasaid, "Mother?"

Ealasaid came up to the two of them, "Wha' are ye doin' jus' standin' around? Yer father wanted ye ta finish tha' job for 'im."

"Ah did already." Kieran replied. He glanced over at Aoife, before looking back to his mother, "Mother, this is Aoife. Aoife, this is mah mother, Ealasaid."

Ealasaid nodded and smiled at the girl. "Nice ta meet ye, lass."

"Welcome ta tha village." Ealasaid said, "Do ye plan on stayin' long?"

"Thank ye'. From the looks o' thin's i'll be stayin' a fair while." she answered with a small smil.

Ealasaid nodded, "Kieran, Ah'll be inside. Ye migh' wan' ta go speak with yer father abou' any other jobs 'e migh' 'ave for ye."

"Aye, Ah will, Mother." Kieran replied.

Ealasaid turned and went inside the house and Kieran turned back to Aoife, just looking at her.

"Yer' mother seems lovely." Aoife said as Ealasaid went inside, "Bu' I shoul' leave ye' ta go 'elp yer' father I 'spose." she said, looking to Kieran again.
