Topic: Morgan House Attic

Two bedrooms...one for Joshua, one for William. Not many people get to come up here as the brothers try to keep their personal lives separate from their public lives.

At the door to the Attic, Will turned and looked at Cass. "The books don't leave this room," he said. "You have to promise me that you won't tell anyone you've been up here. Josh and I, well, we try to keep people away from our rooms."

Cass nodded, "I understand completely and I thank you. I don't like causing people trouble."

Will smiled and unlocked the door leading to his half of the attic. In practically every nook and cranny of the room is a stack of books. A small closet is in one back corner and the bed is in the other.

Cass saw all the books and smiled, eyes taking it all in eagerly. "You like books, I take it?"

"Very true," Will said, shutting the door and walking over to his bed, sitting down and watching Cass.

Cass started wandering in and out of the piles of books. After a long while, he came back over to Will, holding a book in his hand. "Mind if I sit in here and read this?"

"Not at all." He sighed and fell back on his bed. "Josh can handle everything downstairs for a while. He always was better at all that."

Cass smiled, "It must be nice to have an older brother." He sat on the edge of the bed, watching Will.

Will looked at him. "It can be nice at times." He paused and sighed. "I actually had another older brother too, back before the war."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm an older brother myself, only having one younger sister. My parents passed away a few years back." 'Leaving me in a world of debt.' He thought to himself.

"It's not that I underestimate her." Cass sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "It's just that we have family trouble and I'm real worried about her."

Will sighed and rolled his eyes. "Josh always calls me the sensitive brother, always willing to reach out and help anyone, no matter what the circumstances."

Cass sat silent for a moment and then heaved a sigh. "When my father was alive, he made some really poor decisions with his money and when he passed on he left my sister and I heavily indebted to a family who has very powerful underground connections." He looked at Will, gaging his reaction. "I've tried my best to ignore everything and mind my own business, but one of these days, they'll catch up to me. My biggest fear is that they'll use Nat to get to me or worse yet, use her for their own needs."

"Frankly Cass, I'm tired of being sheltered here. My brother is always darting around, doing stuff he won't tell me about and I have a feeling that he has this whole other life. Meanwhile he makes me stay here all the time where my main company is drunks. I need some adventure. Besides, I want to help."

Will smirked. "It's simple enough really. You are a friend I made during war-time. Josh doesn't know any better because he wasn't around. All I have to say is that you need a place to stay for a while. Trust me, it will be fine."

Cass nodded, smiling, "Thank you, Will. I'll talk to my sister about it and see what she says." He stood up, "In fact I'll go talk to her now." He left the book on Will's bed and opened the door, looking back at Will he said, "Talk to your brother and make sure it's all okay with him, please."

Will walked up to his room and locked the door before he stripped down to his underclothes and collapsed on his bed, easily falling asleep.

Josh locked his door, kicked off his shoes, and collapsed on his bed fully clothed, falling asleep seconds later.

Josh woke up early the next morning, got dressed and went downstairs to start cleaning up and getting ready for the day.

Josh walked upstairs and knocked on Will's door. "Will I'm going to escort Miss Cole home. I need you to watch the place."

Will sat up and looked at the door, hearing his brother. "Alright. Don't take too long."

"I won't." Then Josh turned and headed back downstairs.
