Topic: The Stables

Stables for the Inn...and the town, I guess.

Room for all the horses to be stabled, plus fresh hay. Water is at the well and needs to be carried in.

Lancelot took care of his horse, taking the tack off and giving his stallion a nice rub down along with some hay and a fresh bucket of water. Then he sat down to clean the tack. Arthur did the same.

"Do you think Gawain will ever realize that he's supposed to care for his own horse?" Lancelot asked.

"That, my friend, is a question we may never see answered."

Dagonet and Galahad both took care of their own respective mounts.

Galahad looked over at Lancelot. "What was Tristan doing with a fawn?"

Echo peeked over Trist's shoulder as they approached the stables, then hid behind him agian.

Lancelot looked over at Galahad. "Who knows what he was doing with it. Perhaps he thinks a nice stew will woo a woman."

Galahad chuckled.

Dagonet scowled, "I doubt that."

Trist led Echo into the stables and went straight to Einar's stall, waiting for the other Knights to notice as he started caring for his horse.

Dagonet looked up but didn't say anything. He knew better than to badger Tristan with questions.

And...Echo was still hiding behind Trist.

Lancelot stood as soon as he noticed the young woman hiding behind Tristan. "And to what do we owe the pleasure of the lady's company?" he asked.

Echo peeked out at him but was too shy to say anything yet.

Trist smiled slightly and glanced back at Echo. "Echo, introduce yourself. They will not touch you." He looked pointedly at Lancelot as he said that last part.

She looked out, letting only her pretty head show as she said, all in a rush, "Hello, I'm Echo and I'm afraid of you," before ducking back behind Tristan.

"What was that look for, Tristan?" Lancelot asked, looking at him. "It is through no fault of mine that all your ladies prefer others...such as myself."

"You do not need to fear us Lady," Arthur stated calmly.

"My name's Echo," she piped up again, in response to being called "Lady."

Trist glared at Lancelot and then looked at Arthur. "She is frightened of new people and places, this is the first majorly populated place that she has ever been to."

Dagonet smiled at Echo and nodded to her.

Galahad just watched.

Lancelot chuckled, looking at Tristan.

Arthur bowed his head. "My apologies, Lady Echo."

That fact was probably pretty obvious: why else would a pretty young woman be walking around in a fine gown with bare feet and ivy and flowers in her hair?

Echo gained enough courage to step out slightly, so that she was only a little behind Tristan and mostly beside him.

Trist smiled at Echo and finished taking care of Einar.

Hawk fell asleep in the rafters.

Lancelot sat down and went back to cleaning his tack.

"Where did you find her, Tristan?" Galahad asked, completely enchanted by Echo.

Trist glanced up at him, "She lived in the forest."

Dagonet's eyebrows rose. Well, that made things interesting.

"Calixa is my sister," she informed them. It seemed safe enough to say.

Galahad stared at her in disbelief. "She....what?"

Dagonet's eyebrows rose further. This was getting even more interesting.

Trist sighed and looked over at Echo, "Please don't talk about her."

"It's all right, Tristan. Let her speak," Lancelot proclaimed, still cleaning the tack.

"I find her to be a bit of a nuisance." Trist told her, pointedly ignoring Lancelot.

"But she was beautiful!" Galahad exclaimed, "How could you not love her?"

Dagonet coughed, "You truly need help in your observation of women, Galahad."

Echo put her hand on her chin in the common pose of thought; although unlike most people, she was actually thinking. "It's true that Calixa is much prettier than me, but she really isn't very nice, is she?"

"No, she is not." Trist agreed, feeding Einar some bits of oats. He smiled and looked at Echo, whispering, "I don't care how pretty Calixa is, Echo, you are the only one that I care about."

Galahad frowned, not liking how everyone seemed to be against one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen.

Seeing the look Galahad was giving everyone, Lancelot said, "She was beautiful though, even despite her apparent personality."

Trist smiled at Echo and then looked over at Lancelot. "You have not had the misfortune to meet her as many times as I have."

Galahad scowled and went back to cleaning his horse's tack.

"She was a lot nicer before...um..." her face turned bright red.

Galahad and Dagonet looked on, interested.

"Oh, come now Galahad, cheer up. It's not your fault that you cannot get a woman as easily as others," Lancelot joked.

Galahad glared at Lancelot and then gagged after hearing what Echo said, "She did WHAT?"

Dagonet just stared.

Trist looked at Echo and stroked her cheek, "You should not be embarrassed about something your sister has done, Echo."

Echo threw up her hands. "I don't know what they did. They went in a cave and told me to keep watch, then some nasty lady came demanding to know where her husband was, but I wasn't supposed to tell anyone that they were in there, so I made something up, and the lady punished me for lying."

Galahad groaned and went back to his work. "I don't believe this...."

Dagonet chuckled, "Well, that explains some things."

"But that is in the past now, Echo." Trist kissed her forehead, "You don't need to get so worked up over it. You are not at fault for something your sister has done."

"What is he so upset about?" she asked curiously, blinking at Galahad.

"He thinks your sister is an angel and can do no wrong." Trist told her.

"He thinks that of every beautiful woman." Dagonet added.

She blinked. "What's an angel?"

"Wow Tristan, you sure know how to pick your women," Lancelot said, putting his tack away.

"Forgive me," Echo said, looking down and fiddling with part of the belt on her dress. "Before Tristan found me I had only lived with my sisters in the forest; he uses a lot of words I have never heard before."

"Nevermind what an angel is, Echo." Trist replied, ignoring Lancelot yet again, "Galahad just has a complete wrong impression of your sister." He smiled at her, "And there is nothing to apologise for, especially when it comes to anything that concerns Lancelot."

"I'll say." Dagonet chimed in, chuckling.

Galahad just ignored everyone and kept working.

"Does that one like my sister?" she asked, pointing at Galahad. "Because if he's not too set, I have a lot of other sisters."

Lancelot chuckled and shook his head. "I believe I shall go to the Inn for a drink."
