Topic: has fp gone downhill?
Have any of you ever run across a story in the fictionpress world and wondered, 'why doesn't this have any reviews?' I've run across more and more of these lately. one such story is Psychic Avenue by storykeeper. It's their first story on fictionpress and they dont have a fanbase, so they dont have any reviews. Is it just me or does it seem that more and more stories are going unreviewed? Has the fanbase disappeared(or become internetless like me)?

I think the problem is that some authors have a bigger fan base than others therefore sometimes the newer authors or lesser known authors don't get reviewed as often because people get stuck in their little box of only reading people they know or like.

I hate to say that I fall into the catagory sometimes, a habit that I'm trying to break.

I wish there was something on FP that is kind of like a new story high light or maybe a kind of New Author Spotlight or something like that where everyone has the chance to get their works out there.

yeah , that would be good, something specifically for the new authors on fp. but until that section apears, how about we try to pick out at least one new author and recommend them to the guild?

That doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. I know I would have loved it if people had recommened me to other people when I started writing and posting stuff here.

Lets do it! But how exactly do you find new authors and such?

Its not that difficult to get reviews on this site. In fact, its pretty simple. When I first came here, I built my own fanbase. It all starts with reaching out to other writers.

I recommended you, Kimmi :) And I did put you in my profile (not that anyone reads that, but it's there).

I get reviews when I have time to reach. If I don't have time, I'm probably not posting a lot. I think fp goes through seasons of heavy reviews and light reviews.

The best way to get reviews is to give them, then just ask if they can review back.

A bunch of people who like your work and will review most of the stuff you write.

Ten ways to spoil dinner

Actually, a good way to get a fanbase is to go to Forums. I have read new stories through them and people have read my stories through them.
