Ranz didn't flinch when she grabbed Thorn but.. he was ready to defend Thorn.
A long figure crashed onto the ground next to Nix, a wriggling mass of black cloth and assorted curses. "Sohn an ein Weibsstuck! That was my butt!" she shouted, sitting up and yanking the opposing arrow out of the mentioned flesh. She pointed it at them, one by one. "Which one of yours if this?" she asked angrily, her black bangs in her face. "Because whomever does own it is going to get it where I got it! Permanently!"
Ranz stood defiant "who are you!?"
"I'm the one who just got an arrow up the arse! And though I doubt it matters all too much to you, my name's Suno," she said, standing. She brushed herself off, pulling her ebony hair out of her face to get a better look at him. "And you are?"
The sound from the impact jerked Nix into wakefulness. With a splitting headache. She curled up into a fetal position, clutching her head and biting her lip to keep from cussing a blue streak. Gods, she was never doing that again if this is what she got.
Ranz was kneeling beside her instantly "Are you ok? need anything?" Suno... "Suno.. do you any medical related things?"
She blinked at him. "I have some herbal salve, but that's about it," she said. She took the small glass vial out of the front pocket of her shirt, handing it down to him.
"Thanks" he said applying it to Nix's forhead.. the smoothe, cool substance easing away the pain... "Now.. about that arrow..."
Nix took some deep breaths and very slowly sat up and opened her eyes, but said nothing. Her head still hurt too much.
"This you mean?" she said, holding the tip to his nose. "It's obviously not yours, seeing as you have a sword. But whose is it?" she asked, tossing a few bangs out of her face so she could see him properly. "I at least want to return it. It's a shame to loose such a well crafted arrow."
"I think it's Jyn's..." He nodded over at Jyn. "But she's not feeling well right now.. she was unconsious just a few moments ago.. don't be too hard on her...
She sighed, twirling the arrow in her hand. "Well, I don't think that's too out of my reach. But you still haven't answered my question," she said, looking down at him.
It was then Nix saw the newcomers. She tried to touch the their minds to see if they meant harm, but was rewarded with another burst of pain. Blast, she was no use in this condition.
"Ranz. Ranz Doorn." he smiled with a twinkle in his eye stand up to better speak her. After sighed he just went to go tend to Jyn.. ((Why did it put a ** all I said was hard, as in hard as stone..))
Amaia squirmed sideways, stretching to touch Suno's foot. Once contact had been made, she replied, "The arrow is mine, hominoid, but until she attacked me, it sat firm in my bow." Jyn wobbled, uncertain on her feet and wary of this stranger.
Ranz lent her his shoulder to steady herself...
"Is it now?" Suno said, hauling her up to her feet. "And you are?"
Nix laboriously pulled herself to her feet. She tried to follow the conversation, but her mind was all fuzzy and painful.
((Finally.. someone who isn't so racist.... ouch.. sorry..)) Ranz smiled.. "I don't know her name but she's been on our side.. sort of.. she just kinda showed up.. like you.."
"Did she fall out of the sky with an arrow in her butt too?" she asked sarcastically.
"She just sort of.. showed up... I don't really know anythign about her... but she helped us a bit.. faught off the thugs.."
Nix began to giggle uncontrollably, not caring that her head still hurt. Wow, her mind must be really messed up; she usually didn't laugh, not in earnest anyway. She hoped it wasn't permanent.
Amaia lifted a hand tenativley. People generally didn't approve of her randomly toughing them, but she reached out regardless and set a hand on Suno's shoulder. Actualy, I walked here with arrows in my quiver. Arrows I would deeply enjoy sticking in their worthless meatbag bodies!
Ranz couldn't help but notice a certain vicious note in the air... What's she saying..? "Suno.. what's she saying? she still on our side?"
"Well I'm not one of them, so don't be sticking any more in my butt okay?" she said, handing the arrow over. She looked to the laughing girl. "Is she alright?"
Thorn watched them with disgust. "It is not that you are Shadowkin, but that you killed your summoner! How can I--how can we--trust you to not do the same to us?"
"She's... hopefully going to be ok... she's really been rattled.." ((YAY EVERYONE's ON!))
"Hopefully," she murmured. "And aren't you jumping to conclusions a little?" she asked.
Amaia would have rolled her eyes, had the contortion been possible. Instead she lurched over to Thorn, touched her arm and replied Am I a demon, to require a summoner? No wizard payed for my passage with his final breaths. I am a grown Shadowkin and I am permitted to travel accordingly.
Ranz was shocked that Thorn didn't attack the Shadowkin.. but he kept to Jyn, making sure she didn't fall on her face.. ((sorry guys.. the fat part of my left thumb hurts.. and I thought my parents were home (I'm not allowed up past ten, it's about 10:40pm here..) I'm going to be typing slower.. my left hand isn't 100% right now.. for some reason...))
Suno crossed her arms, leaning back a bit. These people were definitely strange, but undeniably interesting.
The laughing seemed to ease the pain, although she still felt loopy. She looked around at their little gathering and the strangeness of it really hit her: some humans, Fliiar, and even a Shadowkin. She burst out laughing again, nearly bent over in mirth.
Ranz saw Suno lean on her leg, and he walked over to her.. "We may be different.. but were all a sort of.. family. We rely on eaother when we fall on hard times.. it's the closest to a realy family I'll ever have..." he sighed and looked at Jyn.. "I think I'm falling in love with her.. she's so... nice... and beautiful.... and... so caring.." he said quietly.. not wanting Jyn to hear..
"You're smitten boy, admit it," she said wryly.
Ranz sighed.. (Umm I didn't know what that meant so I went to Dictionary.com to find out.. I got like 7 definitions.. which one r U using??)
Jyn finally felt her world snap back to normal, and looked around her at the assembled faces. Drev had long since fled apparently, abandoning his "troops" and saving his own skin. Wandering forward she saw the girl who had introduced herself as Suno and a shadowed being she didn't recognize. Ranz stood next to Suno, and she smiled at him, happy that he was unharmed. Her relief doubled when she realized that Thorn and Bria were also unhurt for the most part. ((gtg))
{in love pretty much} She looked to the now alert girl looking around them. "Seems like your lady awaits dear Prince Charming," she muttered.
Ranz smiled at Jyn and walked over to her. "Need a hand?" he said.. with a small peck on her cheek which was the boldest thing he thought he'd ever do in his lifetime...He hoped it wasn't too out of place. He didn't want Jyn to think he was desperate but something overcame him to kiss her.
Suno rubbed the bridge of her nose, crossing her arms. "Well, no one ever did get an award for subtlety..." she murmured. She looked down at the Fliia at her feet. She smiled sadly, morphing into her eagle form. She spread her wings, crying out regally. And I am Suno, daughter Judacia and Kusode, she replied. And it seems no longer are you lost. For here I am, a kin, and have found you.
Ranz stood there.. stunned.. I've never seen Thorn this way... "Thorn.. are you ok?"
Nix had just gotten herself under control when she saw Ranz kiss Jyn, and began to giggle again. She walked over to Suno. "Hey, did you put him up to that? I bet you did. By the way what's your name? I'm Nix, it's great to-" Nix slid her hand over her own mouth, which seemed to have a mind of it's own at the moment.
Thorn stared at the newcomer, barely noting what the Achludite had sent to her. She had been preoccupied with making sure the Achludite wasn't going to go anywhere, and had only heard the voice of the black-haired young woman. She had scarcely lent any thought to what she had said about having fallen out of the sky at the time, but... Realization struck her in merciless waves. "You're...you're Fliia," she whispered, stumbling to her feet. "I never thought..." Joy clashed with sorrowed apprehension. There was no doubt that this being of her homeland knew about the prophecy, the prophet's death, her flight... Tears ran down her face, and she fell to her knees, simultaneously taking up the form that was the birthright of her kind. She had honor. She would not flee from this Shystarie. Jyn was right--the time to flee had passed. I am Tavria, daughter of Lucai and Falrik, she howled, anguished. Lost to my kind!
Suno returned to her human form, bowing low to Tavria. She turned to the girl beside her. "My name is Suno, and no, I did not put him up to anything. Seems he has a backbone for himself. And it is pleasant to meet you as well," she said.
Thorn stared at Suno in disbelief, morphing back into a humanoid. "You have not heard of my plight?" she demanded incredulously. A part of her wailed with joy, but to go on like this would be deception--and unneeded one. "How? Surely you heard of Dieratar, the prophet, and how I ki--" She stopped abruptly.
"Loose tongues often say many things," Suno said seriously. "I rarely ask for information, rather have it told to me through other people. I hear many things, but I rarely feel the need to share them all. But yes, your name does come up often in the conversations I hear."
She turned back into a wolf, not wanting the others to hear whatever might dangle off her suddenly freed tongue. I am surprised you did not attack me as soon as you heard of my name, she sent. Dieratar was the first Prophet in ages, and I killed him. Hear of his--my-- prophecy, she laughed bitterly, and you will shun me.
((Sorry I disappeared.. I was enjoying my drunk character on WOrld of Warcraft XD)) Ranz sighed and.. lacking something better do.. and in the heat-of-the-moment.. grabbed Jyn's hand.. "Everything's gonna be ok.. Everything's gonna be ok.." he wasn't sure who he was trying to convince...
She turned as well, her amber eyes cool. I pride myself with making decisions for myself. Meaning learning of one's intentions and motives before passing judgment that is not mine to pass. For in turn I hope to find someone who will do the same.
Ranz had to get a grip on his head.. it was driving him crazy wit hall the different people, races.. converging.. he couldn't watch them all at once.. he was drowning in a pool known as his sanity.. driving him to insanity.. an unsufferable fate brought upon him by past..
I am not so lenient, Thorn replied wryly. She had to admit, Suno was pretty brave for being so fair...or naive, she thought to herself. If I were you, I would not trust murderers, she advised her fellow Fliia. Or just killers in general. But what Dieratar did... A growl slipped from her throat at the memory. His prophecy damned me. My own family drove me away with tooth and claw, because of what I was prophesied to do, and what I had already done! I sold myself to the slavers of Gariol City up north, on the other side of the Sythalin Bay. I almost lost myself there, she recalled. I can no longer shift with control, though the transformation is easy. I never understood why we had to shift regularly until I was enslaved by humans...
