Topic: The City.

The city is a strange place. Even stranger in resent years. Fight or flee.

Sucki walked down the road, until they came to a ledge, "That Mizumi, is the city." He pointed out over the ledge. Down beside the sea was a large group of houses and other buildings. There was a port with fishing boats in the docks.

Mizumi eyed the town. 'There are so many humans... Why do they gather their food in the open? Predators will take it easily.'

"Predators don't enter the town. It's to dangerous. The humans have weapons to fight the creatures away."

'Weapons!' Mizumi jumped at the word. 'Would they mind us taking some perhaps I could pretend to be one of the maybe they will not notice my hair and share?'

"Don't worry. Humans are dumber than they look. They haven't seen people like us in over a hundred years."

'Wonderful!' Mizumi crossed the road, all smiles before pausing and turning around. 'Oh. Right... I can't speak human very well...'

"That's okay. I'll do the talking, you just sign what you want." He set Ranz against a nearby bolder. "Shall we get going?"

'Sure! But... Will he be alright?' she gestured to Ranz.

He'll be fine. Come on." He held his hand out for her.

Ranz slowly got up.. "Yeah.. little stiff. but I'll be fine.."

"Oh you awake?" Sucki asked. "We're going to the city. Want to come?"

'I cooked some soup earlier. If you're hungry you could have some.' Mizumi offered both of them a flask.

"Sure." Ranz slammed a clip into his gun.. "the city isn't safe.. especially at night.." he lead the way..

Ranz took the flask, drinking savoring it, warming him..

Mizumi trailed behind Ranz and Sucki. 'But there are no predators. Just humans here. Sucki told me so.' she signed.

Ranz stopped.. and sadly looked.. at her innocence.. the simplicity of the question.. "Humans are an enemy to themselves.."

She smiled at Sucki and looked puzzled at Ranz's response. 'Enemy to themseves? So they are divided? Like demons?' She recalled that demons never got along well with each other in conquest for power.

"No not like demons." Sucki told her. "Humans fight each other with no reason behind their attacks. Demons fight for a cause."

"Humans fight for anything they deem worthy - food, 'honor', higher rank, or even just to pi*s another off. It's really quite stupid.." Ranz reflected upon himself... Sort of like me just after my parents died...

'I agree... That seems very silly. Aren't they all the same?' Mizumi signed.

"Humans don't think so. They go by rank in the world. The richest at the top, and beggers at the bottom. The people at the top don't associat with the lower ranks."

Ranz felt a spike of anger.. hurt by her suggestion.. He tried to hide it on his face... "No. Some are compassionate beings.. others are plain troubled.. some are both....."

'That sounds complicated... Which of those are you Ranz? I feel that you are the troubled compassionate type.' She signed with a smile.

Ranz nodded.. "I guess you could say that.. my parents are dead.. I'm an outcast on the street.. this gun is all I have left.. it was my fathers when he fought in the war.." Ranz said.. rubbing the top of it fondly..

'War? What is War?' Mizumi asked in confusion.

"War if death. Two sides fight over land, money, weapons, honour. I've seen war. And I hate it." Sucki growled.

At this Ranz sighed.. unable, and lacking the energy to tell her the details of war.. "War is when Humans fight, but lots of them.."

"Have you seen war..... Ranz?" Sucki asked.

"No.. but I've seen the aftermath..." and he sadly readied his gun.. keeping it pointed outward..

'It is sad that your sire had to persish in such an event. My parents deaths were much more peaceful. My father was frozen after disobeying the council and smashed while my mother gave birth until she died.' Mizumi stated. She barely knew them but from stories. These were common deaths for wyverns. 'Hey! A fruits stall! It looks tasty!' Mizumi skipped up to the stall and looked up at the red fruits.

'It looks like volca.' she recalled the blazing volca foodstuff. 'But not on fire...'

"Hey would you like one little lady? Its just fifty coppers for five!" She tilted her head to the side. Coppers?

Sucki walked up behind her, "Those look nice, how much again?" He asked the stall owner.

"50 coppers" said Ranz tiredly.. he was dragging his feet, his eyelids drooped.. he couldn't walk straight.. "Seeing triple.." he said just before he collapsed.. "So tired..." he moaned.. rubbing the ankle he twisted earlier.. "So sore.." he kept his eyes shut.. in hopes of sleeping sometime..

Sucki walked up to him, "You okay?" He asked. He picked him up again.

'I could carry him... I may not look it but I have my wyvern strength.' Mizumi studied Ranz. 'He's having common symptoms of either over work or food poisoning... I can make some medicine for him after I diagnose him.'

Ranz nodded as he rubbed his ankle soothingly.. and restlessly slept.. not able to get up even if his life depended on it..

Mizumi studied him with healers eyes his ankle was swollen but the cause of him passing out could be die to stress or malnourishment. He wasn't throwing up so it probably wasn't food poisoning and he wasn't injured severely... She remebered he salve she had made before she left. She removed it from her pouch and dabbed it on Ranz's foot. 'He probably won't wake up soon... But this should reduce the swelling...' Her stomach growled lightly. 'We can partake of my soup if we can find a place to sit and eat...' she looked around the human smells and noises made her dizzy...

"Come on, let's get to the docks. I'll carry him." Sucki told her and picked Ranz up.

Ranz groaned in small protest.. "Don't.. let her go.. none of this is her fault.." he moaned.. moving slowly in his sleep..

'Like I signed before. He is very, very troubled...' she pursed her lips. She sneezed softly and covered her mouth with her hand. The sparks touched the damp wood but it ddn't catch fire. 'I'm glad all the wood is wet. That could have been messy.' she commented. 'Yeenaldooshi's are shapeshifters right? I've heard that much from the other wyverns. But what do you change into? I smell something lupine on you.'

Ranz slowly wriggled around.. "Get the he*l out of my house! Leave her alone!" Ranz's body caught fire, off of nothing.. and they were very lucky indeed that green plants didn't burn, and everything else was wet..

Mizumi clasped her hands together, fell silent for a moment then began to sign. 'I am now thankful that I am fire-based.' she reached her hand for Ranz's forehead. 'Well... Obviously he's burning up. Literally. I'll wake him.' She nipped his hand gently. Noting that he wasn't snapping out bit him harder with her fangs.

Ranz awoke.. sending a storm of fire around.. after flying into the ground, punching it several times.. he realized what he was hitting... after a few seconds it clicked in.. "It was the dream wasn't it.." when he finally noticed everything he saw was red, he looked around.. "I'm on fire!! not again!!" (He's just learning his whole.. sigil magic ideal..) he rammed into several trees as he ran through, looking for water.. anywhere.. to soothe him..

'Ranz... I hate to be the one to mention that you are drawing attention to yourself...' she almost smacked hersef on the head when she realized that he probably won't take to the time to look at her signing when he was ramming into trees. "Bang trees bad! No do! Many Humans! Water that way!" She pointed a finger towards the docks that they had been heading to.

Ranz saw her.. Rose..?.. no.. After he finally realized the situation was totally different.. and he was ramming trees, not old wooden walls.. he stopped.. A.. Wyvern.. As though he'd never seen one before.. he then charged at where she pointed, on fire, plunging into the water..

Mizumi wandered over worridly and allowed her human form to melt away, replacing it with a wyverns red body. She arched her neck and brought Ranz out of the water by biting the back of his shirt. She put him on the ground slowly and sneezed at the water. Blue sparks fell with no effects. She morphed back to human form with a little more trouble and panted softly. "You are good?" she asked in broken english.

'He must have been hallucinating...' she pulled out a canister of water from her pouch and poured a cup of water for Ranz. "Take." she told him firmly pressing the cup to his lips.

Ranz nodded.. coughed up water, then drank.. the soothing liquid was enjoyable for his scorched insides.. "Magic.. will be the death of me." he said as he pulled himself up. He sat, leaning against a nearby tree.. drinking the substance she handed him.. "Not bad.." he said between gulps, over and over.. "Not bad...mfm.. not bad.."
