lol long long time ago...It might still be up, but totally empty

Also, online there can be problems with people stealing your work, so... I dunno.

While that is a concern, it's a mild one. If it ever came up in a court of Law that it was stolen, I've got pages upon pages of notes to prove that it is, in fact, mine. But thanks for the concern :)

Posting a story on the Internet is an excellent way to advertise it, and plenty of people would be willing to buy it in print even if they'd already read it on the web.

But your prospective publisher is very likely going to get all butt-hurt about you setting them up for a copyrght violation suit. If the story's already published in another medium, you'll need to make sure that they're okay with it.

I think what I might do (because I'm currently stuck with WB) is post the story here, and then if I ever go to actually publish it, I'll remove it from here before doing so. But that might not be for a while.

I do warn; my story is fairly long. But - as I've been told so far - it's a good read.

FF.net's still up; I've got an account of the same name there. It's moderately active, but there are a lot of "different" FF's - at least for the topics I like.

So, let's say that you have plenty of poems, short stories, and chapter fics on your profile and someone reviews a poem and specifically requests that you review a chapter of their story (And that chapter is by no means short and your poem was but a hundred or so words). What do you guys do about that situation?

Personally? I would review proportionately, or rack up an "IOU" list. If you choose to review said hundred-words or so, then they in turn would owe you an equal ammount, be it with several poems or a piece of work that's of an equal length.

As an aside, I do realize I owe people some reviews. Unfortunately they've had to take a back-burner to work and school, but Fall break is on the approach, so I'll have time soon.

guys! i gotta question!!! do i ahve to type something on word docuument before i put it here? i want to add a second chapter to something i've already put up. can i do it from here? how? or do i have to at least start it on word and then put it on my documents?

Spartan, don't worry about it too much--with school and everything, people are always behind with return reviews. Thanks for answering my question.

MadHatterinWonderland, it's usually easiest to type your chapter in Word and upload it into your documents through document manager. But, if for some reason, you're at someone else's computer or you presently don't have word available, you can open a previously uploaded chapter that's presently in your documents (or export a chapter to your documents) and delete the text so that you can begin typing new material. Just remember what the title of the document you're using is (because it would suck to accidently delete it thinking it was an old chapter you'd already uploaded), and don't forget to save every few paragraphs or so, just in case the site signs you off or the internet hiccups.

private messages are sent directly to your email, and you can respond to them on the link in the email! =)

Yeah, that confused me quite a bit, but I'm familiar with it now. :)

Just a Q, shouldn't every story get reviewed in the bar? Ya know, it's like sometimes I feel like my stories are bing ignored ^^;

I've the same problem. While it is a little "depressing," I think it's best to maintain vigilance in asking. Don't forget to pay back reviews though.

The easiest way to get reviews is to give them; everyone in this forum is kind enough to return them, and you can request which story you'd prefer to receive feedback on. (:

I do give reviews, All the time, but some don't pay back....

Just because you give a review doesn't mean that you'll get one back. The type of writing you do may not be something that the person you reviewed necessarily likes. But, if you go on a reviewing storm? Your chances definitely increase...

Just don't give up hope! It also might help if you hang around in the chat threads and get to know some of the people here. If you talk to them? They're more likely to review you. Unless you bug them in the chat threads about reviews =x

So I put a post up on a challenge's to do but someone said I must go through the questions thing first because you don't know if there will be enough people who does the writing challenge. Is it Ok??

Caecilia Bellz

Ahh, I didn't mean only that, Kela. I just meant it might be a good idea to formalize the idea a bit more, and make sure everyone clearly understands the rules. You outline them pretty clearly in the first post, but we've tried a writing challenge here before, and it didn't take off. Granted, that was right between some major collapses, so it may take off this time.

Also, will there be more competitions? Is it only a one time thing? Monthly? Weekly? Is it always going to be fantasy themed? It's just stuff like that that I think should really be discussed before posting.

hey guys, still a noob.... um, so how do i renew the life of a document? can i?

(and about the whole review thing, i'm not really paying attention to it, but i know it helps so much when anybody gives any type of review, good or bad, so don't hesitate!!!)

Hi, Cynthia :D

You don't have to post your request anywhere but the bar. Don't worry, the good bar keeps will be around to fulfill your request soon. In fact, I've already dropped you one review. While you wait, feel free to review some of the stories in the bar or introduce yourself in the Pleasantries, if you haven't already done so. We'd love to hear more from you.

The beta readers button is not working for me. It hasn't been working for like a month and I emailed the people a couple times. Is it just my computer making the beta readers not work, or is it everybody??

I'm not sure I understand. You're looking for a beta reader, and you're clicking the link at the top of the page?

Mine isn't working either, but the entire site has been on the fritz for at least the past week. That's just what FP's like, so wait it out a bit.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I can't suggest anything else. You could check beta reader profiles on the patrons of RH, or maybe try in the Review Game?
